Hi "Guys",
I added this simple filter to Proxo and it seems to have made my pages to load faster. You might want to try this and see if it helps.
In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "Host: Jakx Page Loader-Up'er(Out)"
URL = "$LOG(RJakx Loader-Up'er Grabbed this Host---> \h)"
Replace = "\h"
Best Wishes,
"~JaK~" =:-)

PS: "Modified Filter to display entry in Proxo's Log Window"
Wow, yes, it seems to load MUCH faster!
Can you explain why?

Thanks!
Hi
"~KYE-U~",
I believe that Proxo is faster at "Grabbing" the Host site's URL than My browser is. Proxo is out in front of the Browser and My browser is Filtered through Proxo. The faster that the host site's URL is "grabbed" the faster the Page starts loading. But this is just a guess.
Best Wishes,
"~JaK~" =:-)
Ah...I see...
So it's like specifying what the browser should load!
Wouldn't it be faster if you put... "\u" there?
It couldn't hurt to try.

I just thought that the since the Host header seemed to only need the URL, I would put the "\h" to just capture the Host URL. But We'll give it a "whirl" and see what happens.

Quote:Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Client sent malformed Host header
Doesn't work, stick with "\h"

Jak,
Just snatched a copy for me own self. Give you a report in a few hours. (Hey, I believe in bashing testing it real good!) :P
In the meantime, to help celebrate St. Patrick's Day, did you hear the one about two Irishmen who walked out of a bar? Hey, it could happen, ya know.
Oddysey
Hi
"~Oddysey~",
LOL! I know it could happen, . . .My Mother's folks are Scotch-Irish. I've wore my kilt all day long, . .I like them much better than My plaid trousers but they do get alittle drafty

Singin' in the background as makin' post ~Oh You take the high road, . .and I'll take the Low road, . .and, . . . .
I love testing speed-up filters, but this time i don't see it here. Can someone who sees a difference post a testcase? I mean a page where it happens and with what browser (and config).
To me it doesn't seem to be the "Host" replacement itself, because i have the correct host before the filter kicks in. Here is a testfilter:
Code:
[HTTP headers]
In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "Host: Jakx Page Loader-Up'er(Out) test"
Match = "\1"
Replace = "\h$LOG(RJakx Loader-Up'er Grabbed this Host---> \1-->\h)"
The log line by this filter shows e.g. :
Jakx Loader-Up'er Grabbed this Host--->
http://www.squarefree.com-->www.squarefree.com
Hi
"~Sidki~",
I like Your filter construction better.

I'm glad that You have taken an interest in this filter. Two heads are always better than one, . .unless You are a "ground-hog", . .hard to get through the hole. lol!
I loaded this page
Click Here
(1). Emptied Broswer cache, loaded the page with filter engaged. just a two or three seconds.
(2). Emptied broser cache again, disabled filter, reloaded the page. It "hung" in one place took about 10 seconds to load.
(3). Emptied browser cache, enabled filter, reloaded page, it loaded right up again.
I'm on dial-up, using "MyIE2" browser.
Not sure why it makes a difference. But it seems to help my pages load. I hope that someone else will try and then post the results, I'm for all the "speed" I can get! [smoke]
"~JaK~" =:-)
----------------------
Ps: After that I started using the filter, My pages were already loaded up but My browser's "status bar" still looked like the page was still loading. I changed the 10 second "persistent Connections" cut-off down to 2 seconds. But this was after that the filter had "speeded" things up for me. And I also am using a small program called "PowerBrowse" I found at "AnalogX".

Oh, . .almost forgot, . .I'm using Cache-Sentry. It fixes a cache problem in IE. & MyIE2 browser.

Jak,
Hate to say it, but I don't see any improvement with the "\h". I'm on a fractional T1, so my connection's already pretty quick. And no, I don't intend to try a dial-up just to see what happens, thank you. <_< :o
Any other tricks up your sleeve, Bullwinkle? [lol]
Oddysey
As most of you know I am on dial-up and I have noticed a great improvement! Will it speed up downloads too?
Hi
"~All"~,
You know
"~Shea~" I hadn't thought about testing downloads. I will check it out when I get home in a few days and post the results. I use a download manager called "Freshdownload" it's kinda like a Proxomitron Downloader. Hahahahah.

And You can't be the Price, . . .free but You have to give them an e-mail addy to get a free registration code. You change the U/A string or make up Your own. Use both Http & Ftp Proxies for the connection. It also has a default list of sites "NOT" to download from, and it intergrates with IE, IE clones, and Netscape Browsers. What I will do is download something with the filter enabled and then disabled. Check the connection speed and time. May do it a few times and then find the average time with it enabled & disabled. That would tell the tale I suppose.
"~Oddysey~",
It's probably where You already have a truck line access from the phone company and if Your box is tweaked from end to end, . . .there might not be any improving to do. Then again it could be that You "need a bigger hat
'Rockie" that 7 1/2 ain't workin' for You, LOL! . . . sounds to Me like You found something "brown" in Your Corn-Flakes this morning. <_< :o [lol]
Thankx for trying it out My Good Friend,
Best Wishes to One and All,
"~JaK~" =:-)
