Hey everyone! Just signed up so I figured I'd post here first. I just downloaded Proximitron about 30 minutes ago and am already incredibly confused Smile! I downloaded JDList and am using JD_Basic.cfg. I also downloaded KyeUSecurityCollection.mergeme.zip. I'm wanting to use this mainly for ad filtering and anonymous surfing, so I'd appreciate some help with setting up anonymity since I went to http://www.samair.ru/proxy/proxychecker/results.htm and it's showing my IP. I'm also wondering if it's possible to manually put in a IP I want shown as my IP (e.g. 1.2.3.4). Is this even possible? I'm a complete newbie to all things proxy. This is the first time I've attempted to work with something like this so please bear with me! Thanks in advance!

Hello Melly and Welcome to the forums!

You cannot hide your IP with just Proxomitron. You need to use an anonymous proxy also. And you can't type in your own IP. Your IP is like your ID number on the internet, if you make a fake one, how will the site know who to send the information to?

Thanks for the information, hehe... I wasn't sure if it was even possible to "make up" your own IP but on the Windows LAN settings there was a box to put your IP in, however mine is automatically assigned by my ISP so I couldn't do that ... Anyway, I think I have Proxomitron set up correctly. I use Opera browser and have the proxy settings done and whatnot. Should I also put proxy settings in my instant messengers? Oh, and one last thing... on the Proxomitron interface what does 'Use Remote Proxy' mean? I have it unchecked and I'm not sure whether to leave it unchecked or not. Thanks again for your help and patience! Smile!

Oh... what is that supposed to mean? \/
