RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
Ok, the Yahoo "Send" and "Save As Draft" buttons still don't work. I want to go over your last message again .... this is what I have now after I inserted the one line in the Include/Exclude U file. I added the line in the 4.1 ALL section but you did say "all the way at the bottom", did you mean that section (4.1) or at the very bottom under
"ADDED BY PROXOMITRON" ... so the one line is sitting there all by itself at the very bottom. I have opened an account at Gmail ... I'm tired of these constant changes at Yahoo ... I will continue to recieve e-mails there but just will never send any out if these buttons never work again ... they keep trying to get me to change to a newer e-mail or something ... I just want a simple working e-mail online program that sends and recieves e-mails, just like a cell phone ... I want a simple cell phone to make and recieve calls, not all this extra stuff that I have no real use for.... but they keep adding and changing everything, the same with Yahoo ... Well, I will wait to hear from you to see if I placed that Yahoo mail line in the right place, maybe the buttons will work again one day if Sidki has a new version in the future. The buttons had stopped working before last year but then the updates must have fixed the problem, they work for a few months then stop ... thanks

the ##'s tell Proxo to IGNORE whatever follows them...
so the ONE line you just added, you told Proxo to IGNORE that line because you put ## in front of it...

so put it in THIS way, EXACTLY this way -

## ||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ADDED BY PROXOMITRON |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
mail.yimg.com/d/combo\?*/darla.js $SET(0=a_adfn1.a_adfn2.)

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
ProxRocks ...

thanks for more info ... OK, I did everything you said to do in your last post ... took that line out where I had placed it and put it at the bottom exactly the way you show it in your message. I opened Proxomitron and saved the new Config ... went to Yahoo mail and I couldn't get into my Inbox at all to even read any mail. The Inbox tab and the Check Mail and Compose top buttons no longer work. I got off the internet and took that one line completely out, saved the "new" Config and went back to Yahoo ... The Inbox tab and the Check Mail and Compose buttons all work again but of course, not the Send or Save Draft buttons, they are still dead.

I guess I should leave that line out ... at least I can get in to read incoming mail, just can't send any replies ... If you have any other ideas or I will just watch this thread for further information.

thanks ... I have learned a lot more about the workings of Proxomitron with your help.

no clue (TONS of .js, my firewall flags "extra" ports [.swf?], URL strings are LLLEEENNNGGTTHHHYYYY)...

does anyone else here actually USE yahoo mail?
i myself trust a foaming-at-the-mouth poised-to-attack stray dog with rabies more than i trust yahoo mail...

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
ProxRocks, i don't understand. Are you saying it's broken for you again?
It isn't for me. All buttons i clicked, incl. "Save as a Draft" are working here.

Also, IMO it doesn't matter if people here are using Y!Mail or not. It's a very popular service and thus is supposed to work with this config.

agreed...

i'm still trying to track it down...
almost NOTHING at the Yahoo Mail (classic) site is working for me - can't change folder, can't compose, et cetera...

my only IncExc-U entry is the one mentioned above...

still debugging...
probably won't have anything figured out on it for a few days...
TONS of .js to sort through, for one...

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
Okay, thanks for confirming.
I forgot that you imply IE as browser. Wink Yes, broken in IE6 here as well.

Troubleshooting isn't difficult:

First step is of course trying to narrow things down via the "Allow" section in the Prox menu.
That isn't really applicable here, because many documents are involved.

Next step: the webfilters.
- The two most likely trouble causing sections are "Anti-Scripting" and "Anti-Ad III - Specific".
Select the entire "Anti-Scripting" section and *right* click one of the checkboxes to uncheck them all.
-> Y!Mail works.

- "Anti-Scripting" has two different types of filters: The upper ones, all starting with "<script>:", and the lower ones. Latter being most likely responsible.
Upper section reactivated -> Y!Mail still works.

- Track it down to "Block/Modify: Sel. JS Methods".

- Reload config, go to the Headers window, uncheck "4.1.b Log to Main (ctrl+shift key) + Rare", and check "4.1.a Log to Main + Rare".

- Reload config after having logged in and having tried one of the defunct functions.

- Open Log-Main.log -- See:
Code:
[2009-4-2 16:27:07]    WEB JS_Method    location.href     http://mail.yimg.com/d/combo?/mg/5_2_15/js/yui_utils.js&/mg/5_2_15/js/core.js&bc/bc_2.0.4.js&/mg/5_2_15/js/darla.js&/uh/js/uh-1.3.2.js&/mg/5_2_15/js/async.js&/mg/5_2_15/js/imboot.js

- Add the corresponding bypass keyword, "i_loc_j:0.", to discussed IncludeExclude-U entry:
Code:
mail.yimg.com/d/combo\?*/darla.js $SET(0=a_adfn1.a_adfn2.i_loc_j:0.)

-> WFM, hopefully for you as well! Smile!

(Once IE supports the "__defineGetter__" method, like all modern browsers do, this type of problems will be gone.)

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
awesome! man, that was "too easy", lol...

yep, that fix works here also...

<two cents>
ah hem, how many "modern browsers" are open to attack simply because they offer more lines of code from which to attack from?

just "thinking out loud", but it seems to me that if browser A "supports" 200 .js functions and browser B only "supports" 50 .js functions, then should be a no-brainer as to which one is less prone to .js attacks... Big Teeth

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
Here is another problem that I had not noticed before. After moving into a folder (say inbox):

The [view|all|unread|flagged] buttons work ok, but the [messages|first|previous|next|last] buttons are unresponsive.

For example, clicking 'next' should take me to the next page of messages but does nothing.

I'm using the followoing updated fix in my IncludeExclude-U
Code:
mail.yimg.com/d/combo\?*/darla.js $SET(0=a_adfn1.a_adfn2.i_loc_j:0.)

Anyone else seeing this too? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
That's odd. The Yahoo Untangler is set up to add a CSS class for defused tracking links which don't have a class attribute already. Now, this Proxomitron added class is breaking the links you mentioned, as well as From/Subject/Date/Size sorting.

Below work-around is rather lame, but i'm not (yet) willing to give up tracking link styling for entire Yahoo Mail.

Code:
[Patterns]
Name = "Yahoo et al.: Multi URL Untangler     9.04.12 (multi) [sd] (d.s)"
Active = TRUE
Multi = TRUE
URL = "($TYPE(htm)|$TYPE(js))([^/]++.yahoo.co|[^.]+.altavista.com/|(www.|)alltheweb.com/)"
Bounds = "<a*>|<form*>"
Limit = 1024
Match = "<(a(rea)+|form)\0(\s*(href|action)=)\2$AVQ((\\+"+(^ \+))\6(^javascript:)(?*)\1)"
        "(*\so(url=($AV(*))\3|nclick=$AVQ(\\+"clickBeacon*)$SET(a=\1)$SET(3=\6$GET(a)$SET(a=)))|$TST(\1="
        ""
        "*/("
        "click(%3f|\?)u\=http(s|)\7(%3a|:)(%2f|/)(%2f|/)+\8(%26|\&)$SET(3=\6http\7://$UESC($UESC(\8))\6)*"
        "|\?http(s|)\7(%3a|:)(%2f|/)(%2f|/)+\8$SET(3=\6http\7://$UESC(\8))"
        ")"
        "|"
        "*\*-+http(s|)\7(%3a|:)(%2f|\\+/)(%2f|(\\+)\9/)+(*\*-+http(s|)\7(%3a|:)(%2f|/)(%2f|/)+)+"
        "((*(done\=|search\?|\=%22)*)\8|\8;_yl[ct]\=[^"'?&\\ ]+\5|\8)$SET(3=\6http\7:\9/\9/$UESC(\8)\5)"
        "|"
        "\8;_yl(c\=|t\=(^*\*-+http))[^"'?&\\ ]+$SET(3=\6\8\5)\5"
        ""
        "))(\4)"
        "&(^$TST(comment=1)|$TST(tNoscript=1))"
        "(($TST(\1=showFolder*)|$TST(\2=*class=*)|$TST(\4=*class=*))$SET(1=)|$SET(1= class=\6ProXPref\6))"
Replace = "<\0\1\2\3\4"

My previous version was flagged as "9.03.07 ... TEST9", so apparently it also fixes a few other things.

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
Thanks. This does the job Smile! Upon more testing, I encounter yet another problem
(apparently this was present even before I switched to the filter posted above).

This is in relation to the [SignOut|WhatsNew|MobileMail|Options] button.

Clicking Options-> Mail Options (in the dropdown) brings up an empty page
(with just a yahoo logo and a search bar at the top).

Once again, many thanks for your efforts.

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
Thanks for checking, sidki. Here, the page populates only if I uncheck 'Yahoo et al.: Multi URL Untangler'.
I did find roundabout ways to get to the mail options, by clicking 'Contacts' (or 'Calendar' or 'Notepad'),
then 'Options' and finally (on the left panel) 'Mail'. So I'm happy. Thanks again.

RE: Yahoo mail acting weird
Hello,

I just wandered along and saw this topic about Yahoo webmail.
To throw in my experience; it all seems fine to me.

I assume this Yahoo trouble some people are having is geo-specific ... ?

In case relevant or useful, here is a test procedure I've just done using Firefox 3.0.8:

Loaded sidki_2009-02-13.ptron (pathing HTTP and SSL through it)
To be able to browse to login.yahoo.com, I have to either make a certificate exception in Firefox for that url, or, turn on Header Filter ! |||||||||||| 2.2 Use Half-SSL 5.01.12 [jjoe] (o.2) (Out)
Loading login.yahoo.com takes me to http://https-px-.login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?
Logging in there then lands me at http://my.yahoo.com/ or http://home.bt.yahoo.com/
Clicking on the Mail link (http://uk.mail.yahoo.com/) typically lands me at http://uk.mc865.mail.yahoo.com/mc/ ... etc
where everything appears to me to be working fine.

(I don't go through all that procedure in normal usage; I use sidki_2009-02-13 in Light Mode overall and merge in and use JJoe's YLogin v2 script/config from the Yahoo Prox group, but I land at the same destination)

One little section, however, has been missing for me from the very top of most logged-in Yahoo pages for a long time. I did attempt to look into it once with some help from here, with some success, but essentially I grew to tolerate not having it. It is the greyish bar which includes Sign Out and a few other Yahoo links.
