Installing Proxomitron on new machine
Hi everyone,
I've been a proxomitron user for many years now. Over the years I've managed to re-install the program on my new and/or updated desktops without too many problems. I've used mixtures of filter sets from the original program JD configs, Sidki, MizzMona, etc. and am very happy with the set up I have. However, I now have a netbook and cannot remember how to set it all up the way I have it set on my desktop - failing grey cells I fear!

I did try something which was probably very unconventional, but it seemed to work for a while with minor glitches, but I feel I need to install from scratch to get ssl files, etc. to work properly (currently I am getting messages telling I don't have the necessary ssl files to work and something about missing ssl algorhythms).

Initially I installed the same old version (4.35, I think) of Prox that I have on my desktop then just copied and pasted all of my config files into the program folder, overwriting original program settings when asked. It's probably not the best way to do it, but as a temporary solution it worked.

My question now is, which program version should I use for clean install? and then can someone please remind me, or point me to a simple explanation of how to copy and then merge my favourite filters to standard configs? I'm reasonably computer literate, but no expert and as I haven't changed my configs in some time, I've forgotten exactly what to do!

Your help and suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you

RE: Installing Proxomitron on new machine
I keep a zipped copy of my current Proxomitron folder on a USB flash drive. To add it to another computer, I unzip the flash drive copy to a folder in my profile's Users folder and put a shortcut to the Proxomitron's exe in my profile's Startup folder.

To start fresh, http://proxomitron.info/files/index.html . Please use the 4.5 June release and add the other files there.
For your customizations (filters and lists, and their required files), add the folders and files that you added to the old machine's Proxomitron folder. Assuming that your current cfg is named default, replace the new installation's default.cfg with your current one.

There were some significant changes from 4.3 to 4.5. Some of your 4.3 filters may not work as expected.

Sidki has an alpha but it is a multiple file download.
The current at http://sidki.proxfilter.net/prox-down.html or http://sidki.host22.com/prox-down.html may be replaced.

Sidki's sets need 4.5

RE: Installing Proxomitron on new machine
Hi JJoe,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I'll certainly do as you suggest and install a fresh copy of 4.5.

Is there somewhere I can get instructions on how to add new filters to my configs please? I believe that something like a "mergerama" or some similar word is involved, but it's been so long long since I used it, I just can't remember! Hope you can point me towards the correct help screen somewhere.
Thanks again.

Merging Config File Filters at
http://proxomitron.info/45/help/Filter%20Merge.html

"Sharing your"...... at
http://proxomitron.info/45/help/Web%20Pa...lters.html
and
http://proxomitron.info/45/help/HTTP%20H...lters.html

This get a little more complicated when the filters need other files added.
