RE: Youtube video direct and Get youtube download url
JJoe;

Mea culpa.... yer right, I do see a difference, after looking at your attachment. Shocked

Not only did I have to force-flush the cache, I had to literally reset my machine in order to see it for myself, in my own browser. Damn, that was a lot of wasted verbiage that could've been used for better purposes, eh? Sad

Dave, sorry for the confusion. I have suffered from this very same mistake once before, and yet it would seem that I failed to remember my lesson. "/embed/" or "/v/" will work as you described, thus enhancing the potential that Proxo brings to the user community - thanks for sharing! Thumbs Up

RE: Youtube video direct and Get youtube download url
Oddysey:

Like I said before, "/embed/" works for me but not "/v/" which gives nothing but a blank, black screen.

So:

This isolates the video in my browser:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/C_Kh7nLplWo

As does this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=C_K...autoplay=0

This used to work for me but after youtube changes now gives only a blank, black screen:
http://www.youtube.com/v/C_Kh7nLplWo

This probably depends on the browser and Proxomitron.
For my browsers, it redirects to https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/C_Kh7nLplWo.
With the Proxomitron not filtering https, this works in all browsers.
With the Proxomitron filtering https, only my chrome variant browsers will play the video.

RE: Youtube video direct and Get youtube download url
Dave;

Funny enough, with my IE9 on W7Ult, I use the "/v/" trick all the time. It's the easy way to get around YouTube's NSFW restrictions (requiring one to log in), and in some cases it also bypasses Region restrictions. As luck would have it, it's the very same trick used by http://www.nsfwyoutube.com - that site simply redirects the user back to YouTube with this URL variant.

I think at this point I'd have to ask - are you using an absolutely pristine testing environment? Meaning, is your config set reduced to just this one filter, and nothing else? To my mind, that's the only to ensure zero potential interference from any other aspect of Proxo. And that also goes for any other add-ons such as AdBlock, cookie managers, etc. Yes, it means exposing yourself to all the mind-numbing crud YouTube sends down the line to you, but you can always delete cookies and such later, right? (Personally I use CCleaner to keep things neat and tidy.)

RE: Youtube video direct and Get youtube download url
OK. I am pretty well convinced that the differences from me to you guys is based on the flash version or possibly the browser.

JJoe:

I get the same redirection to the https googleapis url from the "/v/" url as you report, but again, I get nothing but a blank, black screen. The googleapis url used to work for me but that stopped working several weeks ago. Now, only the "/embed/" url works for me.

Dave;

I can't fault your guesswork about the Flash version, I have no way to test on my end that might be of help to you. All I can tell you is that I haven't updated my particular Browser-only version since 11.2.202.160, and that's pretty old - the latest version is 11.9.900.152. (I never allow any software to automatically update, nor even scan for updates... I'm sure I needn't spell why. Wink)

Good luck finding that culprit!
