List Hashing
« on: August 28, 2002, 01:56:01 AM »
When I reload my config with the log open I get the following.

New Message Log Window....
Hash: Bypass (U) 8:13
Hash: AdList (P) 279:5
Hash: AdListExceptions (P) 10:7
Hash: WebBugs (P) 82:6
Hash: AllowScript (U) 6:11
Hash: AllowScript (P) 20:15
Hash: CookieList (P) 11:15
Hash: Personal (P) 40:4
Hash: PIExceptions (P) 19:5
Hash: NPExceptions (P) 8:11

What do the (P/U) & mm:nn tokens mean and why aren't all the lists displayed?

Let's see if I remember correctly...

P - pattern list
U - URL list

x:y - where

x = number of entries
y = longest hashable length

Thanks TEggHead. That makes sense. Then is it safe to assume that a list didn't hash at all or is empty if it didn't appear in that log output? Lists like the rotating user-agent list?

I think (P) stands for Fixed Prefix (which may be what you had in mind). This from the help file - "BlockList Creation.html".

quote:
There's two types of indexes Proxomitron can use - a fixed prefix and a URL style index. Each item in the list is checked to see if it can be indexed using either one method or the other, if so the method that can index the most characters is used for that item. The total list may have mixture of both types.
