Email notification of new replies messed up - Mele20 - Feb. 04, 2011 08:49 AM

I just got an email notification of a new reply in a thread I didn't recall. No wonder, the thread is from 2008 and the "new" reply was in 2008. Big Teeth

It's this one: http://prxbx.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1057&pid=9114#pid9114

there was a notification sent to the admin's a couple of days ago reporting five/six/seven spambot posts...

i have since deleted those spam posts and banned the THREE "members" that posted them...

so the spam post is likely what triggered your e-mail notification...
but it was deleted before you logged in to read it...

i have been desperately trying to get kye-u to do "something" about all of the d@mn spambots the site is giving "memberships" to - it's obviously not on the stove, front burner or back burner...

I had read your other topic on the spambot problem here but I didn't connect the two. Your explanation makes perfect sense though.

I agree something needs to be done. I too hate the captcha routines. I couldn't read any of them before my cataract surgery last year. I got premium Crystal lens implants and now have perfect 20/20 computer distance vision but I still can't read some of those captchas even though after the surgery I was able to go back to Windows 96DPI and a very small font size. Just recently, on one site I had to try 20 captchas before I got one I read correctly.

I like your other idea which would avoid captchas.
