- Shea - Mar. 23, 2004 01:33 PM What are your guys' top ten favorite websites in no particular order? Proxo Forum thebroken forums UniteTheCows TechTV SpywareInfo Forums LavaSoft Support Hotmail Symantec JavaScriptSource Xbox - ProxRocks - Mar. 23, 2004 02:44 PM Cool... Some very good forums to add to my favorites list... Thanks... The Un-Official Proxomitron Forum Computer Cops - Proxo ONLY My Netscape (home page with news links) U.S. Debt Outstanding U.S. Department of the Treasury InflationData.com Bankrate.com Quicken Investment Quotes MSN Money Investment Quotes Morningstar Report ps - can you tell I replied at the office? - Siamesecat - Mar. 23, 2004 07:07 PM Proxo Forum dsl reports Security Computer Cops - Proxomitron forum F-prot archives Mozilla Firefox The Burning Edge MarsExplorationRover - this one will change to the Cassini Huygens Mission to Saturn when the spacecraft reaches Saturn Missions Index Planetary Photojournal 4000 Volkslieder - ProxRocks - Mar. 23, 2004 07:44 PM Shea Wrote:thebroken forumsShea, Maybe you can tell me of some software to "tweak" (ie, hack) the 'inner workings' of various programs... From another guys post, I've started using Tclock2... But I want to "hack" its calendar to display more to my liking... As in - remove the stupid highlight for 'today' that shows up on ALL months... Or maybe somebody at the above mentioned forum may be able to suggest something... - Shea - Mar. 23, 2004 10:38 PM I'lk, ask there. Also you could try using ResHack or a hex editor. A lot of the people at those forums are really knowledgeable (I suck at spelling) but there's a lot more flamming over repeat topics than here or at other forums. If you guys watch TechTV specifically The Screen Savers you know Kevin Rose. He runs thebroken. - ProxRocks - Mar. 23, 2004 10:47 PM I've been using ResHack to tweak everything from MS Outlook to AutoCAD to Proxomitron to "my" liking, but it's not "deep" enough to tweak anything of significance in Tclock2... I haven't done any hex editing since the days of the grand ol' Commodore 64, if a good proggy is suggested, I'll give that a whirl... - Shea - Mar. 23, 2004 11:36 PM I have avery simple hex editor that I like. I don't do much hexing, but if there's a tweak and they tell you what to hex I'll do it. It's called XVI32. - besafe - Mar. 24, 2004 12:31 AM majorgeeks daily rotation funwithxp eldergeek houseplans ccops dslreports security shellcity jd5000 sysopt forum - Oddysey - Mar. 24, 2004 03:31 AM OK, OK, this is a list of my favorite sites, not those I think you'd be interested in. Some of them are very dynamic, others only updated once a week, a month, or even longer. A few are reference sites, which I would expect not to update too often, but I use them religiously in my researches. And few of them have already been mentioned, so what if I'm not the first, I still like 'em. There's no way I can do just 10 sites, so I broke the list down, as you'll see. I did limit myself to only 25 total, so give me a break, please. Since my interests are all over the map, you'll just have to realize that I have over 1900 bookmarks, :o so it's a bit difficult keeping track of my 'Net life. :P If anybody has suggestions in any of these areas, please feel free to mention them here, or drop me a line on PM, your choice. Everyday: Kye-U's Proxo forum - trite to mention, but oh so true (not linked, you can guess why, right? )Large Scale Model RailRoad forum - my second home on the 'Net, after this place Neowin forums - very argumentive lot, entertaining to stir them up! EHOWA - the premier no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners blog site; check out their photochopping forum! Shell Extension City - best way to find new utilities, very large database Daily Rotation - RSS headline feed focused on computer industry news Daily Whirl - like Daily Rotation (same source), but focused on legal news Cool Site of the Day - usually pretty cool, but once in awhile there's a lamer, which is also entertaining Rate My Kitten - come on, a guy needs a little non-pron fun in his life, eh? Ernie the Attorney - probably the best legal news-digest/blog site I've come across Once a week, or maybe not so often: Quatloos - exposing scams both on the 'Net and off, very focused on the legal aspect Snopes - get the lowdown on urban legends and hoaxes Reverb Central - music site, deals mainly with instrumental music; think "surf music" F150Online - saved me a bundle when I found out about a recall on my pick-'em-up, updates are spotty, but the forum is very active Findlaw - hey, I told you I'm a legal researcher; here's where I usually start Camp Chaos - probably the grand daddy of all flash-oriented humor sites, very satirical Xteq Pro - I dare anyone to find a better tweaker Some humor things, a few are updated often, some aren't: * Operator From Hell - if this doesn't make you spit your coke back out your nose, then you aren't alive! End of the Internet - much more tame, but I'm addicted to searching out and adding these to my archive Tucker Max - very brash, claims to be able to get any women into bed; hilarious The Best Webpage In The Universe - queer duck calls it like he sees it, amazingly on target most of the time Nolo Jokes - even lawyers can laugh at themselves DVD Rewind - a very good spoof page Flame Warriors - large list of various email flamers, usually funny, can be instructive Orgasmica - find out how the other half feels about sex and orgasms! That's it, at least for now. A check on my logs shows that I'm regularly visiting between 125 and 150 sites a month. Out of the rest of my links, I visit as needed to check for updates, or for obscure references, etc. It's a good bet that a chunk of my bookmarks are outta date, but I don't feel like checking them all just now. [beatdown] So, who's next? Oddysey - Shea - Mar. 24, 2004 01:33 PM Jeez! 1900! I have 66 as of now on my homepage that I made by hand. I like it better than going through my favorites and right under all the links, I have comics that rotate daily with Kye-U's script. - ProxRocks - Mar. 24, 2004 03:10 PM I have a filter that kicks in on Google's main page (not the results pages) that puts all of my favorites at the bottom as links... Plus, with Sensiva, all I have to do is 'mouse gesture' the letter 'G' anywhere on my screen, be it within Word, Excel, IE, Firefox, the desktop, et cetera to go to Google... - JD5000 - Mar. 24, 2004 04:26 PM ProxRocks, Have you tried StrokeIt? I gave up on Sensiva awhile ago.. ~JD - ProxRocks - Mar. 24, 2004 05:13 PM JD5000 Wrote:ProxRocks,Tried it... Three times within the last year-and-a-half... HATED it... "With a passion"... Only magnified with each try... I'm using Sensiva (release 1.07)... I LOVE it, "with a passion"... I can do a LOT more with Sensiva than with StrokeIt... Okay, they both do the same exact thing... But the "interface" to Sensiva is SOOO much better... But you cannot go higher than 1.07... - JakBeNymble - Apr. 06, 2004 11:30 AM Hey "~Guyz~", I just found this site about Intrusion Detection System. It has a Map that shows where Cyber-Attackz have happened. You can check their data base for the IP.s of the "Top Ten Attackers"! Here was something that I found that was interesting: Quote:Never send email to this address: spam@euclidian.com.
