After using Chrome, I'm used to typing my search query in the address bar. Either one of these filters will help simulate Chrome's behavior in all browsers.

Use only one of the two

What this filter does is that it allows you to type a search query in your address bar and search Google (or any search engine of your choice), just plug \1 in the URL.

So if you type proxomitron filters in your address bar and press enter, instead of your browser trying to load http://proxomitron filters/, it will load Google/Scroogle/the search engine of your choice.

With Firefox, I can simply type my search terms into the search box which has been set up for the search engine of my choice, and that search engine will open and begin the search. Seems like less bother.

Firefox automatically performs a search, if the string in the location bar contains a space.
The used search engine is set in the keyword.URL preference in about:config .

Good point =] I tend to search for one worded terms though.
I don't like having both the address bar and a search box, clicking back and forth.

for me, F10 = "move the cursor into the search bar"...
F8 = "move the cursor into the address bar"...
and yeah, my "preference" is for them BOTH to be there (*dislike* Google Chrome for this et alia personal preferences)...

As Sidki indicated, I don't need a search bar at all. Only the URL bar. The search bar was removed long ago.

By entering a one letter code I can use use the URL bar to search such places a Google, Scroogle, IMDB, dictionaries, encyclopedias, Wikipedia, etc.

The letter 'g' indicates a search on Google for whatever terms follow. So, for example, if I want to search Google for "birds" I merely type 'g birds' in the URL bar. Voil? . Or, if I want to search for birds that cannot fly I type 'g flightless birds'.

For a dictionary search I type 'd <word>'. Etc. It's that simple.
Firefox permits creation of any number of these quick search keywords.

I use a very small searchbar wich grows as i type more chars thanks to search bar autosizer. Still the keyword/alias are good for common searches

I do something like that with my proxy but they're keyed from the host name portion. I'm confident you could do that in Proxo. Here's some examples of what URL I enter and where they will go:

proxo
prxbx.com/forums/

s/something else
www.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/nbbw.cgi?Gw=something%20else

g/something else
www.google.com/search?hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&q=something%20else

spell/something
dictionary.reference.com/search?q=something

whois/example.com
whois.domaintools.com/example.com

So instead of typing "g " for a Google search, here I would start with "g/" for the same effect being done by the proxy instead of by the browser. The benefit of using the proxy is they become independent of (and supplimental to) whatever each browser vendor does.
