RE: Yahoo mail login wallpaper
Did anyone find a solution? The in-your-face trash foisted on me is so annoying that I put s.yimg.com into my hosts file

($/windows/system32/drivers/etc/host - turn off read only in properties) 127.0.0.1 s.yimg.com

It's not perfect but infinitely better than that almost abusive stuff.

I see
.png  yahoo.png (Size: 24.65 KB / Downloads: 586)
To do this via the Proxomitron, you would need to filter https.

RE: Yahoo mail login wallpaper
I gave up on the idea of filtering https because of all the browser warnings.
For the Yahoo login page issue I use Adblock Plus (for Firefox) which can easily zap the full-screen background ad images. Leaves the background a bright white though.

And LMT's suggestion a few posts back is pretty effective: Just bookmark the help page and use that as your login link. No ads there.

using "half-ssl" will remove 90% of these...
i still get an "intermittent" one every once in a while (i use an AutoIt script running in the background to click them FOR ME!)...

personally, and i've found none yet, but i wish there was a 'registry setting' or something that AXED the "certificate check" fiasco tidbit... it is MY computer, it is MY risk... i don't "want" the d@mn "certificates" 'checked'... i am "happy" with taking on the RISK of "assuming" any and ALL "certificates" to be 'legit'...

it's the kid crying wolf, especially for the Proxo certificate warning...
it pops up so dang often that NOBODY "reads" the warning anyway, we all just "click it"...

the Operating System should have a way for the user to *OPT OUT* of the stupid things !!!

my two cents Smile!
i acknowledge the risk, but it is MY risk Smile!

Yes Zolt, I used to use Firefox but after constant "waiting for ..." timeouts for a month (tried everything in every newsgroup) decided to give IE9 a go, not as customizable but getting used to it. Yes, I tried a virgin copy without addons, removed ad-block plus, removed ad-muncher, tried portable firefox as main browser, tied removing Spybot S&D, tried removing spywareblaster, tried chrome. Must be something on my system as my son's fox has no problem.

Oops, not very proxomitronish...sorry

RE: Yahoo mail login wallpaper
I was able to get rid of the stupid Yahoo wallpaper by adding s.yimg.com to the list of Restricted sites in Windows Explorer. I use IE8 on WinXP. Try this: Tools->Internet Options->Security, select the Restricted Sites icon and add s.yimg.com to the list. Close and reload. Worked on my 2 PCs at home and the 3rd PC at work.

Everyone pls try and let us know here if worked or not for you.

RE: Yahoo mail login wallpaper
Works in IE8 at work so I expect works in IE9 too, a decent solution. I went back to Firefox 6.1 as it's got superior addons: auto forms etc, much less hassle than IE9 - I got rid of most of the plugins and the "...waiting for Google..." bug *seems* to appear less...

RE: Yahoo mail login wallpaper
the most annoying thing is the need to scroll sideways to the login. i've been using ssl setting, so i can block whatever the huge thing is, and can insert usercss into https pages.
