Google ads why?

Since late 2011, enabled Proxo SSLeay/OpenSSL via config button. (Usually use firefox. I allow some permanent cert overrides in cert_override.txt in profile folder. But after days or a week, this file gets corrupted, so i delete or rename, and Firefox generates a new one. Also, the line for each domain is the same in different cert_override.txt).

Haven't tried half-SSL.
I like SSL filtering, because SSL and non-SSL websites need help.

Does your ad problem change with js enabled vs disabled?

I use this method to "permanently" disable js in firefox prefs.js

Test by trying a bookmarklet. Bookmarklets in firefox don't work if js disabled. (NoScript has setting that always allows bookmarklets. Opera (8, 9, and iirc 10) always allows bookmarklets on js disabled pages)
Google tries loading many tracking parameters, in many locations, including href, ajax/json/??, inputs, and meta refresh. There's a lot of pesky interaction, but for a while google search pages would meta refresh reload with &gbv= and &ei= tracking when js disabled. IIRC, a proxo filter killed the meta refresh, so for now i have even cleaner google urls
