RE: Refusing connections on 64 bit browser
I'm no fan of IE but I do use it some. Plus, I was trying to resolve a Java problem on IE 10 32 bit and thought maybe if I switched to 64 bit latest Java it would work (Java was working fine on the earlier version on IE 10 but this latest version from Oracle that has the extra security with the slider which I set medium high doesn't work and Microsoft has been of no help. I need Java unfortunately).
I get "proxy is not accepting connections". I doubt it is the Windows firewall which has given me no problems on Win 8. I don't blame you for not having Win 8. My new computer has Win 8 Pro bought specifically so I have downgrade rights to Win 7 Pro. You would not believe what I went through to get Dell to acknowledge my downgrade rights and send me two USB keys (one for Win 7 Pro and the other for re-installation of Win 8 Pro). To downgrade is a very convoluted process because of new UEFI BIOS and the need to use legacy BIOS and even then a very convoluted process. So, I am trying to get used to Win 8. Not everything about it is bad. (dslreports.com is my home page so that is why the errors mention it in the screenshots). |
