The Proxomitron's author, Scott R. Lemmon, died in 2004 taking the code with him. That is was the end for many.

Otherwise, it's been 18 years, life happens. The Internet has become more complex and dynamic. The ranks of the few talented people have been diminished by other interests, employment, children, illness, death, fear of legal action, etc.

The old filters should still work but they were written before some things existed. For example, the Proxomitron only filters files of certain content-types. "application/javascript" came later, https://www.prxbx.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=2260 .
