PrxBx.com Wiki?
Thoughts on whether or not you think this is a good idea and/or if you can recommend any certain wiki distributions? Smile! I see a wiki as being the ultimate form of knowledge repository.

I had just realized that CastleCops had some sort of wiki, but now that they are gone, there is none (that I know of).

RE: PrxBx.com Wiki?
bugger,

It's gotten pretty slow, but The Wayback Machine has a fair-sized archive of that site. Go here:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.castlecops.com/

... and see what you can find.

Fearless Leader,

A wiki-style page would be very useful, I'm sure. Obviously someone would have to be "in charge", to oversee the edits. But even with that "little" concern, it should be a popular site. I think that because many neophyte users tend to find wiki's on so many topics across the web, they may well be expecting to find one for The Proxomitron too.

Done correctly, it would provide a lot of the back story we can't get into here, when answering specific questions. Things like why Scott wrote it as an engine that can be modified at will, what kinds of things it can filter, why it won't modify anything outside of Ports 80 and 443, how to setup the SSL filtering capability, etc.

I'm up for this! Cheers

Kye-U,

What's this, can't we enter separate replies anymore? Banging Head

RE: PrxBx.com Wiki?
ProxRocks,

Yes, I can accept your viewpoint, but consider..... I was writing two different topic replies to two different people. If you read only so far as the first name I addressed, you might skip the whole rest of the message, and miss the second (or third or....) part that was more of what you were actually looking for (or that might be of some interest, at any rate).

Moreover, it's trivially easy to blow this off. Simply sign up under a different alias, post a one-line "space holder", and then re-login as your main identity. Posting your second reply is now separate.

I truly hate it when programmers write code because they can, and not because they're solving a problem. That's when they create problems, because they don't think ahead about the ramifications of what they're doing. Mad with Teeth

It was set to be 60 minutes; I've changed it to 2, which makes more sense to me Smile!

RE: PrxBx.com Wiki?
Kye-U;

Thanks for the explanation.

But I have to wonder..... if two members are conversing in short sentences, and posting almost immediately to each other (vis-a-vis a chat session), would their replies to each other stack up in one single message for each of them? That would make it quite difficult to follow, no? Sad

Doesn't matter now, it's only an academic point to ponder. Seems like the MyBB folks were looking to solve one problem, and didn't realize they'd be introducing another. Hmmm, that sounds familiar. Suspicious
