RE: sidki-config: Jan 14 2009 beta 2
I would like to help here, but we have different configs and it's really frustrating losing control of proxomitron when i don't use my own config. If all our configs would share at least the same framework/base...
So maybe the release of a Sidki lite could be a good idea, would be easier to understand/control/edit by all. Would contribute a lot to the project of the framework, and the sidki config would be feeded with improvements in the framework too. People like me could move their own config to the lite version and share their filters with more people. Maybe the Sidki lite is the nivel 0 or 1 and we have it there, i don't know i will try to take a look this weekend to the new realease... i'm these days fully working in my config with some new ideas and the days are too short... |

RE: sidki-config: Jan 14 2009 beta 2
Wow! Very neat! It works great...except when I went to Google and got that horrid Google suggest garbage. How come you didn't incorporate Kye-U's filter for that which works great? I went back to your Jan 2008 config until I had time to come and get Kye-U's filter again. But other than that, it's a great set. I have it on XP and Vista Ultimate and when I boot my virtual machine with Windows 7, I will install there too.
Many, many thanks and don't forget to make it so we can make contributions. |

I get asked questions fairly frequently over at dslr about how Proxo functions and I usually can only answer in generalities and point the person to this forum and earlier to Castlecops. |

I assume you're still happy with posted filter, so you can carry it to new config versions. I'm reluctant to add more site-specific filters, unless a bunch of people wants them. |

I'm sorry if it sounded that way. I didn't mean it like that. Yes, someone here was just posting about Google Suggest and they like it. So, it is an individual thing, I suppose. Yeah, I can just carry that with me. I'm happy with it.

I do like it, although it only ever seems to work for me in my FF search box/bar, not the actual web search pages. (On pages, I find only my previous typed search entries are offered by the browser autocomplete). But then, as I imply on that other topic, I do use addons (and Greasemonkey scripts) whose impact I have yet to fully conclude when also using Prox+Sidki. Lee |

RE: sidki-config: Jan 14 2009 beta 2
Just some thoughts about the 'doc' subject and making Prox+Sidki easier to understand;
The wealth of detail in the IncludeExclude files approaches being a doc; I don't know if an extra column could be shown in there directly relating to which actual config filters achieve the shown commands? Maybe this could even be achieved semi automatically rather than painstakingly totally manually, by running some kind of analyser script over a page with everything turned on, then pasting that detail into the file as an extra column. I do appreciate however, that may not be as simple as I imply, seeing as numerous variations of filters may be involved with any one config option. Failing that, or as well, can the on-page Prox menu be fleshed out / extended to give many more user options? It seems to be run from quite a clever process which detects which filters are active on the current page. For example, I personally do not understand or currently find a use for most of the options in there except for a few on the right hand side. eg, I sometimes use Block or Allow scripts, Allow all javascript, force to a config mode, and use the 'List' option to make an IncludeExclude-U entry. If the Prox menu gave a lot more options more obviously directly related to the config filters and/or what we see in IncludeExclude, this could be a great way to give non-technical users a higher level of control. You can probably tell, what I am generally heading towards there is an enhanced user interface, something which Adblock Plus or No Script offer. I think non-technical users, even with the best intentions and efforts, currently struggle with Prox to relate what happens on a page to what bit(s) of Prox cause it. Yes there is the log window, but that really is fiendishly complex to look through and draw a confident conclusion from. Just some thoughts. Lee |

RE: sidki-config: Jan 14 2009 beta 2
This is great news that we have a new filter set. Iv been running it most of today to replace my old grypen set which was getting more and more unuseable. Im pleased to say it works superbly well. One thing though if anyone can point me in the right direction is how do I turn off the toggle flash for videos in youtube> and other sites? I would like to have the videos play without having to click the toggle button??
Kind regards Scoop |
