Scrolling code boxes?

RE: Scrolling code boxes?
Thank you JJoe for mentioning different Firefox results! I had reviewed it with versions 2.0.0.20, 3.0.5, and a portable version of 3.0.10.

But this PC I'm on now is probably the quirky one. It's Win98SE with a little open-source package called KernelEx that enables newer Firefox and most other softwares to install & run on the old OS. What I'm seeing is probably caused by a KernelEx custom GDI extension interacting with Firefox. After all, for quite some time "Firefox can't be installed or run in Win9x". Some people, like me, are saving up their common-sense for a future day when we might need to use some.

Sorry for any confusion. Unless others are missing a scroll bar, I'm happy with being the 'quirk' instead of Firefox. Smile!

RE: Scrolling code boxes?
I borrowed a machine to check Firefox 3

Haven't done the KernelEx thing. I doubt it would help.
Would probably give me more ways to waste time, tho. Wink

Absolutely! It may be fun to play with things that "can't possibly run", but usually better to use things that "should run".

What do you think about the 800 pixel width? Now I'm wondering if something like 850 or 900 would be better for this forum. For me, a User-Agent header is enough to trigger scrolling beyond 800. For example: http://prxbx.com/forums/showthread.php?t...6#pid12856

RE: Scrolling code boxes?
We'll need to see what resolution the majority of the forum uses... I just picked 800 since 800x600 is the "minimal" standard, although I believe most monitors today are at least 1024 in width.

RE: Scrolling code boxes?
i'm not sure which of the numbers is height versus width -
at the office i'm "stuck with" 1024x768 (single-monitor, blah!, and it sucks that i can't get the res higher)...
while at home i'm on a dual-monitor 1280x1024 (max available) or a 1440x900 (can set higher) widescreen in the other room...

ps - now that we know the "culprit", many of us will probably be using a site-specific filter to adjust that setting 'ourselves' via Proxo Big Teeth
