Google Chrome: "Proceed Anyway" button missing
Hello,

I have Proxo filter HTTPS pages. Works perfectly with Firefox.
Using Chrome (any version - by now 17.0.963.56), when I try to go to an HTTPS page like https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=to...e=0&tbo=1, I get the awaited for security alert:

"The site's security certificate is not trusted!"

but the problem is I just have a single "BACK" button, the needed "PROCEED ANYWAY" button is missing.

So I can't go further and have to use another browser.

Tried to get it, unticked Half-ssl, etc., without result.

Does anybody know how to make this "Proceed Anyway" button appear?

Thanks in advance.

the interesting thing here, with the "shutdown" of Scroogle, i've been looking at DuckDuckGo, Ixquick, and Startpage...

Ixquick and Startpage are essentially one-in-the-same...

but the point is, ALL THREE OF THEM do the same exact thing, "CN" errors with the SSL... just like the "encrypted" SSL Google search you just pointed out...

seems to me that SSL searching is NOT the route to go, but no real clue, will wait for others to chime in...

I think Google took it away, http://www.google.com/search?num=100&com...tnG=Search .

Half-SSL should still work, if it hides the https from the browser. Bookmarked or stored links need to look like,
http://https-px-.encrypted.google.com/search?q=toto&hl=fr&num=100&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&complete=0&tbo=1

The errors that ProxRocks is reporting may be 'fixed' by editing the Proxomitron's certificate store, certs.pem. I haven't checked but I don't remember seeing those errors with the old certs.pem.

HTH

RE: Google Chrome: "Proceed Anyway" button missing
Thanks for your answers.

Seems like Google withdraw this essential button !

Well, I have half-ssl permanently ON.

If I enter "https://encrypted.google.com/search?" in the urlbar in Firefox or KMeleon, it by itself turns into "http://https-px-.encrypted.google.com/webhp" as expected,
while in Chrome, "https" gets strikethrough and the alert on a red window appears, instead of turning into Proxo's half-ssl mode.

And manually entering "http://https-px-.encrypted.google.com/..." or sending it from Firefox to Chrome ("View page in ... Chrome" item in Fox context-menu) works perfectly either.

I have entered Proxo's certificate in Chrome as Trusted root cert.auth. and it didn't change Chrome's refuse to proceed.

Supposably, Chrome itself blocks it before transmitting to proxo. Really stubborn.

Anyway to override this Chrome's mis-behaviour ?

I don't think so but Chrome is open source... Wink

trust me, i wish i knew...

i personally #HATE# the whole "certificate check" scheme in its *ENTIRETY*, no matter what browser it is!...

it's a LOCAL-LEVEL "check" that should have a LOCAL-LEVEL *OPT-OUT* "at MY own risk"...

RE: Google Chrome: "Proceed Anyway" button missing
A few precisions:

Now, maybe since Proxomitron is a Trusted authority on my machine, HTTPS pages get the red window & alert box, but the proceed anyway button is there, so I can go on to the requested page.

EXCEPT for ALL Google addresses where the button is always missing.

For Google search, a way-around is to enter "http://https-px-.encrypted.google.com/search?q=toto" manually and clic it again in the dropbox that appears. Then the secure google search page displays.

Chrome Web store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/ )(needed to download Chrome addons) is still worse behaving:
It always returns a blank page through Proxo, even "BYPASSING filters".
Doesn't even work without Proxo with Chrome running connected directly to internet in a Sandboxie Sandbox !

The only way I have found to display the Web store page in Chrome browser is to run Chrome completely unprotected, directly connected to internet. I have been unable to download any chrome addon with another browser.

I really hate the way Google treats people.

Typing "proceed" should allow the connection.
Starting Chrome with the command line switch "--ignore-certificate-errors" should disable certificate error reporting.
