All;

I found this while looking at news about the rumors of IE 7 coming out before Longhorn. (Hmmmm...)

In essence, it shows how a webpage should be coded to make Windows/IE display a PNG image correctly. My particular system works correctly, if a bit slowly, but most people on IE and Windows can't see a PNG file at all. Perhaps this will help, although only if the page author implements the code.

I can hear some of you now: "Why did Oddysey post this here, if it's only for page authors?" Dumb question. (Not stupid, Jaded_Goth, just dumb - there's a difference. :P) Write a filter that adds the appropriate coding to pages as they d/l from the 'Net. More detailed discussion, along with example code, can be found here.

Enjoy!

Umm... I've always been able to view PNGs... never was aware that this was an issue for anyone.

Oh well. :P at all of you with the problem

The problem is with alpha transparency in PNG, so you many not even be aware
of the problem. The image will be rendered, but not the way it was intended. Here's
another page on the issue, take a look at the examples on "The Problem" and "The Solution" pages to see
the difference. or use a better browser Smile!

Great reference, much grass! Says the same thing, but covers more butt by including all possible attributes for the <img.... tag. What's that old saying, "Thoroughness is next to Godliness"? Wink

Boys and girls, if you write such a filter for permanent inclusion in your filter sets, be sure to reference pooms' site, not mine.

Sorry, but I can't let you get away with that. [blink] Define 'better'. I'd define it as "adaptable, with plug-in's where feasible". Oh, wait.... you're indicating that one should use just such a browser, aren't you. Funny, I thought that's what this thread was all about, telling IE to use a plug-in. Silly me, I'm just not too "swift", am I? :o :P

Evening,Odd',Dearest,

Like a_s_b,I hadn't even realised this was an issue.Thanks for the enlightening info since .PNG has become my favouritest weapon of choice lately.

Haven't even installed any Firefox plug-ins as I was afraid I might inadvertantly load the active x one and get hit by a million premium rate diallers,hijackers,browser diverters etc....Not being sentimental,I have no wish to re-visit the ol' Inbreed Exploiter days.

????,??,????`????,? _J_G_ ????,??,????`????,?

Nope, doesn't have the "ecks" sound at the front of the second word. Go back two spaces. Sad
