Site access issues

The current problem to access this site (at least from Europe) is apparently only a DNS server failure.
Adding...
205.209.167.11 http://www.kye-u.com
205.209.167.10 http://www.kye-u.com
... to the hosts file works.

Just the home page spits out script errors.

PS: Has the cfgpacks download section on above mentioned page mutated somehow, or why is there just one file that gets updated regularly? Wink

Works great!

I've been having problems accessing this site as well =(

I'm planning to make a new layout for the site, so that it will have a download library, and so that you guys (Sidki, JD5000, Jak) can update your configs anytime Eyes Closed Smile

Thanks, sidki, for posting the info for the hosts file! I'd been trying to get here for days. (I may not post that much, but I usually check the forums daily.) This is a real relief!

sidki;

I gotta add my "I second that!" to nolan's thanks!! Cheers

Kye-U, I humbly suggest that you send a separate email to every one of our members, and let them know about this. I'm not sure if the PM facility will let you, as an Admin, blast it out to everyone at once, or if you'd have to use your non-Proxo-admin account in order to economize your efforts. <_<

Could it also be that you should post a note right on the first page (of kye-u.com), pointing to this topic, so that others who arrive here freshly fallen off of the turnip truck will also get the benefit of sidki's wisdom? But if you do, remember to use the real IP in the link, not the friendly name! Sad (Reason should be obvious, snicker.)

lol... unless they are like me and registered with an e-mail account that NEVER gets checked...

okay, okay... it gets checked once per MONTH to do nothing but 'delete all' just so the account stays 'active'...

Well, that would be their loss, no? :o [lol]

Beside, the intent is to give notice to those who do like to check in, but can't because they haven't yet doped out sidki's solution. If they lose out, then sure, the forum might lose their membership, but so be it.

Obviously, those who have gotten here, whether via "the magic trick" or otherwise, they don't need to be contacted. But you might consider trusting Kye-U. He hasn't caused my inbox to suddenly go ballistic with crapola. :P [lol] Cheers

p.s. For the record, I too have a throw-away email box, just for signing up at various forums. Amazingly, that box has a much better anti-spam filter than my yahoo account - absolutely nada since the first of the year. Hmmm........

good point...

I just checked my SEVEN throw-away accounts (3 Yahoo, 2 Hotmail, 1 Netscape, and 1 GMail) and only ONE of them had anything sitting in it...

Ermmm..... that would be a nada, me bucko. Not since you and I exchanged messages several days ago, where you told me about sidki's fix. Or is that the one to which you refer? Was that the more-or-less general message you sent out to everyone? (I just assumed that it was a response my question about the site being "down", not a general alert.)

I'm sure other forum members stranded in the internet will appreciate the heads-up! I couldn't get in at all for days, and was about to post for Help!!! on another forum to find what was up, until I got through with the ip#.

BTW, haven't got an email as of now ... and, as Kye-U knows, I was "crazy" enough to use a real email address here ... :o ... no more spam than usual on that account since Big Teeth . Not sure I'd want to do that registering on some other forums, though ... such as the Green Midget Internet Cafe ...

umm, re-reading this thread ... who's nolan? Only known to the Secret Chiefs who are allowed in the Secret Back Room with the cheese sammiches and caviar? :P

Yeah, i agree that it's time to notify the members.
(We're lucky that the IP address is constant btw.)
Same here, no such email yet either.

This arrives my inbox...

Dear Member,

http://www.Kye-U.com has been experiencing DNS resolving problems.

We are not dead. It is just (hopefully) a temporary problem.

To fix it, add this line to your HOSTS file. (Located in C:
Windows\HOSTS for Windows 98 users, or C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\Etc for Windows 2000, XP users)
Eyes Closed Smile

205.209.167.11 http://www.kye-u.com

Many thanks to Sidki for posting this fix.

I hope this clears some things up and that this works for you!

Kye-U
