The El Cheapo Router Challenge

There is an interesting discussion running at DSLR entitled "El Cheapo Router Challenge" which users here may wish to look in on. The basic premise of the discussion (and the correct one) is that a software firewall adds no additional protection against inbound connection attempts if your pc or lan is sitting behind a simple NAT router. Even a cheap one will do. So far Blake (of LinkLogger fame) has tested the Linksys BEFSR41 successfully. Nobody was able to penitrate the BEFSR41 even after Blake provided login information. He has now moved on to the Netgear FR114P.
