Hahah, this is cool :P

I got Proxomitron to work under WINE under Linux (Knoppix)!

But it's only version 4.3

I'll try to get 4.5 to work.

(It doesn't show the interface, but I can "feel" it working!" Big Teeth

Ok, can't get 4.5 or 4.4 to work to save my life, but 4.3 works perfectly with WINE!

I see the interface now, and I had to get rid of some 4.5 entries in the default.cfg that used the 4.5 new features.

I did this by comparing the 4.3 default config with my config which had some entries (like PriorityBoost)

Also I disabled the use of the OpenSSL Files to improve speed and compatibility.

Knoppix 3.3.

Also, I got version 3 of Jakx Spoofing Pack since version 4 uses a new method of "rotating" the lists...

I'm guessing you did a hard drive install. Right? Does it have any issues running from the HD? I was going to install it on an old PC I have laying around, but on their website it said it had some issues so I've been holding off and only using it as a Live CD.

No issues... Big Teeth

So easy to use, easier than Mandrake!
Running perfectly so far.

Do you have it by itself or dual booting with Windows? Was it hard to install on there or pretty simple?

I have it on this computer by itself, and it was easy to install.

Go to http://www.knoppix.net and read the HD-Install Documentation for help on installing it.

What sized HD do you have it on? The PC I was going to put it on only had a 4GB, but on their site it says to have at least 3 just for Knoppix. I guess I would buy a bigger drive off eBay or something. Big Teeth

Thanx for the info Kye-U! Have you ever used Knoppix-STD? It's a customized version of Knoppix with a lot of security related tools on it. Its got password crackers, encrypters, decrypters. and it's only a 500MB download instead of a 700!

There's hope for you youngsters yet!! Big Teeth

I've been using Linux since kernel version 1.4, which was Mandrake v4.2, and RedHat v4.0, IIRC.

Kye-U, your wine may be a bit old. I'm now running SuSe 9.0, and their wine can handle Proxo 4.5 just fine. I've also installed Fedora (what can I say, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool RedHat loyalist) Core 1.0, but I can't make SuSe's wine work under that, at least not yet.

Being as the summer is pretty much upon us, the other half is all over my derriere to get some yard work done, so I may be severely limited in my playtime. (Where's the boo-hoo smilie? [angry] ) To me, time on this board (and a few others) is more important than sticking my head under hood, so we'll just have to play it by ear, and see what develops, eh? Smile!

Keep up the good work, and keep lettin' the rest of us know what works, and what doesn't. At least I'm never too old to learn something new, once in awhile. [lol]
