I have the same sentiments exactly as altosax...

Most recently I have replied on the same TOD. Yes - Shared filters sets are a great asset with "all" fellow proxo users, and to newbies alike.

Keep up the good work, and thank you.

Hey JD

Just browsed with your new config. It runs very smooth, no distortions, no ad debris.
Nice that all files are in a separate folder now. No need for timestamping them any more, as i use to do with other config sets.
This URL command toolbar comes in very handy as well

The only page i couldn't open was
http://www.schooner.com/~loverso/no-ads/
Gues why . Probably there are only a handfull serious pages with such a URL out there.

BTW, the speed is also very nice, Deviantart gave me fantastic 11s today

Hiya Sidki3003,

Happy it worked for you. I Spent the past couple of days working on the ad filters. Yeah, I used to have 6-9 diff folders of Proxo with the various config sets.. I'm starting to really enjoy the toolbar also.  LoL, I noticed that side-effect, it killed a site on me too.

Dunno what I did to make DA faster... lol

ad(log|vert(enties|s|)|s) is the line that kills that url - it sees the no-ads/ bit...

Can someone remind me how to NOT something? - ad(log|vert(enties|s|)|s) NOT no-ads???

Usually by appending &(^no-ads), but that won't work here,
because it's a list called within a special match.
You might find it easier to change the line to
ad(log|vert(enties|s|))

Great update!  I gave up on the last one because I was unable to download files from MajorGeeks.  Tried sticking URL in any & all of the exception lists (bypass) with no luck.  Instead of seeing the popup window for Download would get a page of characters.  I was looking forward to using this new one.  Alas, still unable to d/l.  With the exception of turning off most Cookies tags have not changed anything else.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello oltelman,

It's the "Content-Type: If Unknown - Filter Contents (in) {1.d}" filter in the headers section.

I think, I better bump up the rank on that one, for the next release.

HI

sorry for my poor english

I use your config set and it works great for me (much better than the old one)

But I have one problem with the Tag-Manger. I deactivated the META-Tag in the blocklist, because it blocks other charsets (8859-1 don't work in eastern-europe).
Is there an other way for this?

The :"Kill - comment block ads {3.d}" blocks only this way:

e.g.: start Banner

but there are many ads in this form:

e.g.: Banner start

How can I change this filter to block both variations.

bye

You can try 8859-2, or try this filter instead. I've only tested it on one site..

Name = "Preserve Foreign content-type {1}"
Active = TRUE
URL = "$TYPE(htm)"
Bounds = "<metas*>"
Limit = 256
Match = "1 charset=$AV(2) 3"
Replace = "1 charset=2 3 $STOP()"

quote:

That ones a bit tougher.. If you know of a comment that begins with "banner", you could add it to the beginning of th bounds match.

e.g., <!-- (start|auto|open|begin|banner)s

You may also have to add it to the end of the bounds match.

e.g., *<!-- (end|auto|complete|inserted|done|banner)s*-->

Thats simple enough. Now here's were the problem is.. If we were to add all the different words an unwanted comment may start with, the list would grow quite large, most likely resulting in a performance lost. (slower filtering)

To me "Kill - comment block ads" is a couple steps above a site specific filter, but not quite a general filter.

Hope I didn't confuse you.

Howdy ree1,

Welcome aboard.

I think your question would be best asked in the "Questions and Answers" forum. If you repost it there, I'm sure you'll get more answers.

If your using my config, you can copy & paste a filter into the "dummy.cfg" & then merge it with your default.

     1. Copy the new filter to Clipboard.
     2. Paste the filter into the Correct area of the "dummy config". (patterns, headers, lists)
     3. Merge the "dummy config" with the your config. (File -> Merge Config Filters)

hey JD,
you mention in the Q&A forum that you might have cleared up the 4.3 page not load problem by adjusting your style sheet filter. Is this something I could do (rudimentary knowledge only, cut & paste solution would be good) or should I await further developments?

Question:

I find that if I use the ACR filters I still need to enable the Kill Ad tables filter.

If I disable, as suggested in your config, certain Ad Tables get thru.

The same thing occurs if i disable the Kill - comment-pair delimited ads filter.

?

Howdy nightfishing,

ACR was meant to work by itself, but it doesn't hurt to add an extra ad filter if needed.

This is from the ACR readme.

# Similar Filters in Default.cfg:
#
#   This is a list of filters from the default set in the Proxomitron
#   distribution that can be disabled when using the ACR.  Some of these
#   are filters that kill all uses of a technology that might not be
#   needed if the filters were only used to remove ads.
#
#   The order is as they appear in the default set.
#
#   - Banner Blaster (limit text)
#   - Banner Blaster (full text)
#   - Kill JavaScript Banners
#   - Kill specific Java applets
#   - Flash animation killer
#   - Counter Killer (if you have counter servers in your ad keyword lists.)
#   - Kill off-site Images
#   - Kill add-on JavaScripts
#   - Sound Silencer (This default filter "silences" all embedded plugins!)
#   - Kill Layers

Can you give me a sample site? Just curious...

~HTH, JD

Hi ikari,

You can disable the "Insert Style Sheet - Show Kills {2.d.se}" filter for that site, by changing the URL match to...

Active = FALSE
URL = "download.com.com/"

Hi JD,

Congrats on the the latest version

I have one tiny problem.

Something is conflicting with this filter:

Name = "Hotmail Login"
Active = TRUE
URL = "www.hotmail.(msn.|)com(/|)(^?)|*.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/login*"
Limit = 16
Match = "<start>"
Replace = "<HTML>"
          "<HEAD>"
          "<META HTTP-EQUIV=REFRESH CONTENT="1;URL=dhtml/hotmail.htm">"
          "k"

Works in the previous cfg, but just brings me to a blank page with the new one.

Thx

J

hi mapsonx,
that filter you are using is not part of jd filter set, probably this is the reason of the conflict.
it is an improvement of an old filter i've found in the zxlist and was part of my default filter set, but now i've realized an header filter even better and faster.
remove that web filter and place this header filter in your config:

In = TRUE
Out = FALSE
Key = "Location: Hotmail Login relocator [vm] (In)"
URL = "www.hotmail.(msn.|)com(/|)(^?)|*.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/login*"
Match = "*"
Replace = "http://local.ptron/hotmail.htm"

then, ensure you have the file "hotmail.htm" in html folder (not in its subfolder) and enjoy it.

regards,
altosax.

Hiya ikari,

Thx for the kind words.

"Strip web beacons posing as stylesheets {3.d}" is causing the problems at MSN.

Change the "Matching Expression" to...

*rel=$AV(stylesheet)*&
*href=$AV(*([?=]|.pl|.php|.cgi)*)
|(^*href=$AV(*(.css|.txt|.ashx)*))

That should do it.

I'm experiencing precisely the same thing at

http://forums.about.com/ab-windows/messages/?start=Start+Reading+%3E%3E&fpi=yes

affected by that filter.

I thought that was how it was supposed to work lol

I altered the match as you suggested & it works perfectly at MSN, but nothing changed at about.com.

Can you check it out?

Thx

Hiya mapsonx,

I can't get to that site. If you give me the "debug" info, I can tell ya if it's a web beacon or just an accidental match.

I just need this...
<Match: Strip web beacons posing as stylesheets {3.d} >
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.msn.com/styles/css-site3.ashx" />
</Match>

Log window shows a ton of activity, but virtually nothing with debug (Content-Type: text/html)

I now the "beacon" filter is at the root of it (normal view when disabled)

Any way to work around this?

Sorry I wasn't clear.  I know it's been explained to me before, but just confused as to why debug gives so little.  I was just trying to say that when I view the log window at that site there is a bunch of stuff going on, but debug shows very little info.

Here's the source:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://Local.ptron/JD_HTML/Css/mylinks.css">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://Local.ptron/JD_HTML/Css/showkills.css">

BTW, where did that extra bit in the quote come from?

I was finally able to view that page. Even tho it does call a css file, it seems to be a counter.(I think..) Just a simple counter, no personal ID...

Here's the call for those interested.. Xartica did mention asp files as a possible beacon...

If you want, you can change the URL match for the filter to...

Hi JD5000.

Too many thanks for share with us your config set. It's a very good and hard work.

I made this filter joining the one for webbugs and the one for offsite images.
The reason was that filtering webbugs in certainly pages with the original filter, crashes the pages.

Name = "Block off-site webbugs"
Active = TRUE
URL = "($TYPE(htm)|$TYPE(js))(^$LST(Bypass-Ads))"
Bounds = "<im(g|age)*>|<inputs*>"
Limit = 800
Match = "*&(*(height=$AV([#0-4]))1)& (*(width=$AV([#0-4]))2)&*src=$AV(http://(^h)*)"
Replace = "<img src="http://Local.ptron/clear.gif" 1 2>"

Or this one

Name = "Block off-site webbugs"
Active = TRUE
URL = "($TYPE(htm)|$TYPE(js))(^$LST(Bypass-Ads))"
Bounds = "<im(g|age)*>|<inputs*>"
Limit = 800
Match = "*&(*(height=$AV([#0-4]))1)& (*(width=$AV([#0-4]))2)&*src=$AV(http://(^h)*)"
Replace = "[WEBBUG]"

Hi JD

Beautiful job.  You oughta frame this one and hang it above your mantelpiece

One tiny suggestion.  In your JD_FAQ&Tips.txt, perhaps it would be good to mention that if ACR is active & you want your Google blocklist entries to work, then "[^/]++.google.com/" must be removed from Bypass - Ads.txt.

I'm sending you a Google Groups filters set I ran across that you may find interesting or want to play with.

Thanks for your dedicated work

Hiya mapsonx,

Thx.

Ok, I'll make a note of it.
BTW, I don't now if I mentioned it, but I modified a filter to do what ACR's blocklist does. Try enabling, "Kill Images on selected pages {3.a}" It even uses ACR's block list.

I'm taking a look at the google filters right now.

Can you explain advantage of this? Less CPU intensive and/or faster than ACR?

Anyway, I enabled "Kill Images on selected pages {3.a}" & disabled ACR.

For test purposes,  Kill Images.txt & BlockList - Images.txt already have Google entries, but there is no apparent effect on Google images---not removed as they are with ACR.

Have not yet activated anything from "AD FILTER SET - OPTION #2"

Are there other adjustments that must be made for this filter to operate

Nope, no changes needed. (that I can remember) It should work at google images... I tested it at google & google images/groups..

HELP!  During tweaking ran across site that exhibits strange behavior.
First would never finish loading, but after I disable "Outgoing header filter" to identify offending rule it works fine.  So to confirm I would enable it and it still works fine.

http://www.tvguide.com/Listings/index.asp?I=63114&zip=30062

Before disabling "Out Header" a flash ad near the top does not load , afterwards it does load and continues to load even after enabling "out header".
Site displayed fine with your last ruleset.  The flash ad did not even appear!  Fortunately for me, lucky guess' have worked up until now.
As always appreciate your help.

The page loads fine here.. (Oper6/IE6)

Although, I see what ya mean about that flash ad.. Not to mention the tv show popup windows... Let's try this...

Change the "URL match" for "Kill - comment-surrounded ads {6.d}" to...

$TYPE(htm)(^$LST(Bypass-Ads)|[^/]++.tvguide.*/Listings/)

& change the "Matching Expression" for "Kill - flash ads {5.d}" to...

*(src|value)=$AV(*.swf*)&*(src|value)=$AV($LST(AdList)*)*

Oops, forgot to include that info; W98/IE6.  The page looks fine but all the indicators (globe on top & status bar on bottom) never finished.
Mentioned in last message that the frame or box didn't show at all in last ruleset, but remembered I was using ACR instead of your ad set (Option #2).  Have since tried using ACR instead of yours with no change.  Don't know if that would make a difference but thought I would throw it into the mix.
I'll add this and give it a try.  Thanks a bunch!

"Run time errors"? I just tried it in IE6 & Mozilla 1.1b, no problems. Can ya give me some more info? What config are ya using? (JD_default, JD_Newbie, JD5000) Are ya using any add-on filters? (The ones marked with, ".a")

Hi JD

I am running WinMe & IE5.5.  I am using the original filter set and have not add any filters.  "Run time errors" problems occurs in JD_default, JD_Newbie and JD5000 filter set except on the default set.  I suspect it has to do with some filters dealing with picture/graphic, because when the sites tries to load some pic/graphic, the run tiem error message would pop up.

Hiya pandoras_box,

I'm sorry to say, I have no idea what could be causing the problem.

If you could, can you dbug the page for me? This is how I would do it..

1. Disable the header filters. (in & out)

     -> If the error still occurs, then it's a web page filter.

     -1. If the problem go's away, then it's a header filter.
     -2. Now, enable the header filters. (in & out)
     -3. Disable one header filter at a time, until the error goes away.
     -4. Try it on the second page
     -5. If no errors, post the problem filter here.

2. Disable the web page filters

     -1. If the problem go's away, then it's a web page filter.
     -2. Now, enable the web page filters. (in & out)
     -3. Disable one web page filter at a time, until the error goes away.
     -4. Try it on the second page
     -5. If no errors, post the problem filter here.

3. If the error still occurs, then put Proxo in bypass mode.

     -1. I would start pounding my head against the table....

NOTE: Use the log to see what filters are matching. That way, you don't have to go through them all.

Post by: Deporange on August 04, 2002, 05:04:43 AM
Hi, JD

I'm having trouble with the IE-imbedded WinXP media player (WMP) playing streaming content.  I've narrowed the cause of the problem to the User-Agent: Default and Dumb Site header filters.

When the filters are enabled, WMP will not play this radio station: http://www.wnyc.org/asx/wnycam.asx; when they are BOTH disabled, it plays fine.  I've examined the logs and the unfiltered "conversation" is a little wacky, with a couple unexpected calls to other domains (e.g., publicbroadcasting.net, akamaistream.net).  On these requests, the User-Agent is NSPlayer and Windows-Media-Player.  I suspect those hosts might be confused by the generic User-Agents that your filters supply (I've added wnyc.org to Dumb Sites.txt - doesn't fix).

Does there need to be a new BlockList, i.e., WMPList, where streaming sites are added to?  Or a better solution?

Yeah, I meant to do that.. I just forgot.. LoL

Change the "URL Match" to...

(^$LST(DumbSites)|$LST(Allow-UserAgents))

Then add the site to the "Allow-UserAgents" list.

If..

www.wnyc.org/asx/

doesn't work, try...

www.wnyc.org/

Ok, got it... after lots of futzin - it ain't easy being a newbie!

The blocklist is Allow-UA (not Allow-User Agents).  Need to update URL Match in both rules:

User-Agent: Default - IE/Mac (Out) {5.d}
     >> (^$LST(DumbSites)|$LST(Allow-UA))

User-Agent: Dumb Sites (Fake IE) (Out) {1.d}
     >> ($LST(DumbSites))&(^$LST(Allow-UA))

hi deporange and jd, or
hi jd and deporange,

what you write is true: that filters work better with an allow list, but when the user actually is REALLY using IE i don't see the reason of fake it as INTERNET EXPLORER.
so i suggest to deporange simply to disable the header filter "fake ie" and use only the filter showing a faked browser (ie-mac, opera-linux and so on) on all sites not listed in dumbsites.txt. this way ^dumbsite=allow.

just my opinion,
altosax.

Hi JD5000.
I missed a filter for flash ads by size in your config set. Hope you like it.

Name = "Kill - flash ads by size"
Active = TRUE
URL = "($TYPE(htm)|$TYPE(js))(^$LST(Bypass-Ads))"
Bounds = "<object*</object>|<embed*</embed>|<params*>"
Limit = 2048
Match = "*(src|value)=$AV(*.swf)*& *$LST(AdDims)"
Replace = "<center><span class=Prox style=display:none;>[Flash ad removed- 9]</span></center>"

Altosax - good point; at this stage, as a newbie, I'm erring on the cautious side.  Also, running WinXP/IE6, I'm a little concerned about what mischief MS might try to pull.  I've seen some recent threads about MS Updates with questionable intent when it comes to my privacy.  Finally, if I don't use the User Agent header filter, this is what my browser sends:

"User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312461)"

I believe the last "word" in the string refers to a patch that's been applied... this seems to be pretty detailed tracking of the browser version.

Hello again.

I'm need help with "Kill - javascript banners {6.d}", this filter crashes some webs.

I tried to change the original matching expression (Script|Adlist):
*((<iframe|=?=?=?=?|banner_height)$SET(#=Script List)|
://$AV(($LST(AdList)|++.akamai.net/|f.about.com/)$SET(#=AdList)*))*

By that (Script|document.write(Adlist)):
*((<iframe|=?=?=?=?|banner_height)$SET(#=Script)|*document.write(*://$AV(($LST(AdList)|++.akamai.net/|f.about.com/)$SET(#=AdList-9)*))*)*

Or by that(Script|document.write(Offsite)):
*((<iframe|=?=?=?=?|banner_height)$SET(#=Script)|*document.write(*&*(href|src)=$AV(http://(^h)*))*$SET(#=Offsite))*

NOTE1: I'm not sure what i am doing. Can someone verify my changes?

NOTE2: I don't know how to quit the smiley , it replaces [ ^ ] (without spaces)

JD -
In your "====JAVASCRIPT" section, it appears that you are using the Bypass-Start-End blocklist and not Allow-JS.  Allow-JS appears only in Block Browser Info in JS (Misc.) {5.d}.  What's the rationale - isn't Allow-JS intended for these filters?

I'm digging into these filters more as I try to reduce my reliance on IE security settings and increase what Proxo does for me.
THANKS

Hi D,

I'll add Allow JS to the URL match. It was one of the things on my to do list. I just forget what's on that list... LoL The start/end filters can cause problems on certian sites, that's why all start/end filters include that bypass list.

Hi JD!
I'm a newbie here and I've been using your config set for a couple of days now.
I think it's realy SaWEEEEET. Runs realy well. You must have put alot of time into this. Just the lists are huge. And its all so well organized. Perfect for lazy brains like me.

Two things though:
1-The proxomitron toolbar doesnt work with local htm. file.

2-The List folders are well organized but when you look in the
Add to blockfile> and the Edit blockFile> menu, its a real mess. I tried to organize it like you did with the webpage Filters. In Each of the List folders, I created some dummy files called like this:
---SOME NAME.---
Then I edited the default.cfg file to put some order like this:

List.---[DefaultProxoList]--- = "..Lists---Default Proxomitron Lists.---"
List.Bypass = "..ListsBypass List.txt"
List.CookieList = "..ListsAllowCookies.txt"
List.AdKeys = "..ListsKeyword list.txt"
List.---[Jd'sAdList]--- = "..ListsJd_ListsAd Lists---Jd's Ad Lists.---"
List.KillAdList = "..ListsJD_ListsAd ListsAd - AdList.txt"
List.AdDomains = "..ListsJD_ListsAd ListsAd - DomainList.txt"
List.AdHosts = "..ListsJD_ListsAd ListsAd - HostList.txt"
 ...
List.---[Jd'sBypassList]--- = "..ListsJd_ListsBypass Lists---Jd's Bypass Lists.---"
List.Bypass_Web = "..ListsJd_ListsBypass ListsBypass - Web Filters.txt"
List.Bypass-URLKiller = "..ListsJd_ListsBypass ListsBypass - URL Killer.txt"
 ...
List.---[Jd'sAllowList]--- = "..ListsJd_ListsBypass Lists---Jd's Allow Lists.---"
List.Allow-Frames = "..ListsJd_ListsBypass ListsAllow - Frames.txt"
List.Allow-Referrers = "..ListsJD_ListsBypass ListsAllow - ReferrerList.txt"
 ...(etc)

Now it easier to navigate through all those list in the Edit blockFile> menu.

Hello JD

Am I correct in assuming that:

1.  Filter set options 1, 2, 3 are to be used independent of eachother (I know your not supposed to use filter set #2 with ACR, but does that also go for DOM filters)?

2.  Either use one DOM filter or the other, but not both?

Thx

No problem using just one DOM filter

Post by: JD5000 on August 13, 2002, 08:25:31 PM
Hi mapsonx,

I'm guessing "DOM container killer.." is causing the problems? All those pages worked fine for me in IE6. The only thing I can think of, is to change this line in the "DOM container killer.."..

var d=6;

to

var d=5;

The DOM filter isn't the most stable filter.

I modified the 'Anti-Auto-JS-Redirection' filter's matching expression to:
 *.location(.href=|.replace()"(^['"+]) 1"*

I find it Works better this way.

And thanks JD for the credit in your new update.
Makes me feel all fuzzy inside. hihi!

I would like to thank Sidki for all his help in testing my config. It would be full of holes & problems if he didn't help.

Thx Sidki!

That's correct, location.replace is the 3rd variation. I didn't place it into the filter, cause this is a function that can be redefined with pre-injected JavaScript.
I'd recommend using JS if possible (Paul Rupe's code for that is here (http://"http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=&TOPIC_ID=670#3052")).
Otherwise i'd suggest to still allow for "location=" matches.

Hi JD:

Truthfully, I don't have the foggiest idea what you or others are talking about most of the time . When I looked at Proxomitron a while back I thought it looked interesting, but with a much to difficult learning curve. Then I ran across "JD's config set (updated 08-12-02)" and decided to try it out.

Good job , Since Proxomitron does everything I never dreamed of and more, I have now uninstalled the other separate utility programs I was using.

Without the "JD's config set (updated 08-12-02)" I would not be a Proxomitron user today. Speaking of config sets, I did a lot of searching before downloading and it looks as though all you "ProxoMasters" help each other out. It seems as though a lot of different peoples thoughts and work, end up in each others individual Config Sets if the configurations meet each "Proxomasters" individual requirements, at least I hope so.

Though I don't know the difference between one config set and another, I'm happy with this one. And if you are of the mind to post your latest and greatest once in a while, I'll be waiting to fetch. Thanks

Howdy Engsetter,

Welcome to the world of Proxomitron. It's great to hear you've found my config useful. That's the best thing about Proxo users. Everbody is willing to help each other.

Hehehe, yup... Looks like an update is coming soon.

Hi JD500. Of course, your config set is better each day.

Ok. Let's start

Bugs or changes i would make:
"Kill Images on selected pages"
The list $LST(BlockList_Images) doesn't exist

"Browser Info in JS(Browser & OS)"
Match = "navigator.$LST(JSProperties)(^[a-z0-9])
(this change was proposed by you)

Things that i modified:
"Kill - ad banners {6.d}"
Match = "1<(im(g|age)|input)s*>(*)2&*src=$AV($LST(AdKeys)*)"
Replace = "<center><span class=Prox style=display:none;>1[banner.2 - 9]2</span></center>"

"Kill ad banners by size"
Bounds = "<as*</a>|<iframe*</iframe>|<ilayer*</ilayer>|<img*>|<input*>|<object*</object>|<embed*>( </embed>|)"
Match = "((*<(im(g|age)|input)s*)|*(src|value)=$AV(*.swf)*)& *$LST(AdDims)"

Filters that i would add:

Name = "Dim white backgrounds"
Active = FALSE
URL = "$TYPE(htm)"
Limit = 32
Match = "(b(gcolor=|ackground(-color|) : ))1"
        "$AV((white|((#|)(([ef][0-9a-f])+{3}|[ef]+{3})))(;|)2)"
Replace = "1#E0E0E02"

Name = "Allow for frame resizing"
Active = TRUE
URL = "$TYPE(htm)"
Bounds = "<fram*>"
Limit = 256
Match = "(#((frameborder|border)=$AV(*)|noresize|=$AV(0|no)$SET(#==1 )))+ 1 >"
Replace = "@1>"

Name = "Remove specified OnMouseOver events (Sidki)"
Active = TRUE
Multi = TRUE
URL = "($TYPE(htm)|$TYPE(js)|$TYPE(oth))(^$LST(Bypass_Ads))"
Bounds = "<(a|img|image|input|body)s*>"
Limit = 768
Match = "(*onmouseover=)1(*;|)2("
        "$AV(((|{|) ((w.|)status)5=*)"
        "|("|)3 (w.open|MM_displayStatusMsg)5(*)"
        ")(;|)4"
Replace = "1234"

Thanks to all Proxomitron is growing.

Greetings.

Hi ,

quote:

It should be in the ACR folder.

quote:
"Browser Info in JS(Browser & OS)"
Match = "navigator.$LST(JSProperties)(^[a-z0-9])
(this change was proposed by you)

Yup, already changed.

quote:
Things that i modified:

Match = "1<(im(g|age)|input)s*>(*)2&*src=$AV($LST(AdKeys)*)"
Replace = "<center><span class=Prox style=display:none;>1[banner.2 - 9]2</span></center>"

"Kill ad banners by size"
Bounds = "<as*</a>|<iframe*</iframe>|<ilayer*</ilayer>|<img*>|<input*>|<object*</object>|<embed*>( </ embed>|)"
Match = "((*<(im(g|age)|input)s*)|*(src|value)=$AV(*.swf)*)& *$LST(AdDims)"

Both have been replaced with sidki's filters.

quote:
Name = "Dim white backgrounds"
Active = FALSE
URL = "$TYPE(htm)"
Limit = 32
Match = "(b(gcolor=|ackground(-color|) : ))1"
"$AV((white|((#|)(([ef][0-9a-f])+{3}|[ef]+{3})))(;|)2)"
Replace = "1#E0E0E02"

Name = "Allow for frame resizing"
Active = TRUE
URL = "$TYPE(htm)"
Bounds = "<fram*>"
Limit = 256
Match = "(#((frameborder|border)=$AV(*)|noresize|=$AV(0|no)$SET(#==1 )))+ 1 >"
Replace = "@1>"

Name = "Remove specified OnMouseOver events (Sidki)"
Active = TRUE
Multi = TRUE
URL = "($TYPE(htm)|$TYPE(js)|$TYPE(oth))(^$LST(Bypass_Ads))"
Bounds = "<(a|img|image|input|body)s*>"
Limit = 768
Match = "(*onmouseover=)1(*;|)2("
"$AV(((|{|) ((w.|)status)5=*)"
"|("|)3 (w.open|MM_displayStatusMsg)5(*)"
")(;|)4"
Replace = "1234"

Will do.

Don't forget the variables in JS

var n = navigator
n.appName

I didn't notice the "navigator" in there. I only added the "[^a-z]" part.

Hi JD5000:

I'm tHe gEEksteR, and have just joined (as in yesterday).

I want to says thanks JD5000 for all the work you put into the config setup.  It looks like you spent hours on it.  And the layout in the config dialog boxes are really terrific!

I first heard about PROXO quite awhile ago, when the first Naoke 4 version just came out and was still in the beta stages.  I used it for a while, but steered away because it was interefering with a few java-based pages I visited, and went to WebWasher, then AdSubtract.

But now I'm back with PROXO and, thanks to your setup, for good.  I'm fairly new to computers in general, and have been going through a BIG learning curve, but it seems I have a natural understanding :-)

I will be putting up my own website shortly through my ISP (AT&T), called gEEklanD, and will be dealing with computer security a lot, as well as issues about Windows and how to keep control of your own computer.

My beef isn't so much with ads in general, but what's going on behind the scenes (like invasion of privacy and being sneaky about it).  Ads are a way of learning about new products, and the benign use of advertising is okay with me, although I was raised with a bias against advertising and am still cynical about them and like to poke holes in them ;-}

Anyway, thanks again JD for all the effort put into your config setup.  And I will be making contributions, as soon as I get up to speed.

Hey JD5000:

I have a question that might be able to help me out with faster than trying to figure it out by myself.  It concerns the adlinks.  I noticed you've set your filtering up to completely remove all links to ads, like the banners, etc.  How could I change it so that only a link remains containing a short desc. of the ad and still keep everything else intact.  I want to be able to go to that site, but also I want all monitoring (webbugs, etc.) disabled, as well as redirected links.  In short, a direct link to the site, without the multimedia content and tracking.

I could probably figure it out myself, but I'm not familiar with your setup yet and I would rather spend the time getting my website up and running at this point.

Sincerely,

>>>>>>> tHe gEEksteR

With my current config, that's not possible without quite a bit of work... My next update, should come close to what you want. I'll see if I can get it to what your asking for.

Hi JD500, my friend.
I'm back

I think that the filter "Exploit - Big Size Input {5.ex.ie} "
will never match, maybe would change the match code to that
"*size="[1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9]+{3,*}*"

Other thing, the filter "Bypass redirects in links {6.d}" fails with that code:
<a href="howitworks.htm" onClick="MM_nbGroup('down','group1','how_nav','http://www2.smsdriver.com/smsd/img/index_r2_c2_f2.jpg',1)" onMouseOver="MM_nbGroup('over','how_nav','http://www2.smsdriver.com/smsd/img/index_r2_c2_f2.jpg','http://www2.smsdriver.com/smsd/img/index_r2_c2_f2.jpg',1)" onMouseOut="MM_nbGroup('out')">
extracted from this URL: http://www.smsdriver.com/howitworks.htm

Other more, if you have doubts about "Remove specified OnMouseOver events"
this other is perfect for only status bar. (I think that is from Sidki)

Name = "Remove OnMouseovers: De-Obfuscator "
Active = TRUE
Multi = TRUE
URL = "($TYPE(htm)|$TYPE(js)|$TYPE(oth))"
Bounds = "<as*>|<i(mg|mage|nput)s*>|<body*>"
Limit = 512
Match = " onmouseover=($AV(*status=*))1 2"
Replace = " NoMouseOver=1 2"

And the last one. Maybe the filter "Block - Browser Info in JS (Browser & OS)" can make window_manipulation.js works bad. But i'm not sure, it's only a supposition.

Regards.

Yes, I think your right.

I'll take a look right now.

I think I'm gonna stay with "Remove specified OnMouseOver events". I've been using it for awhile now, without problems.

As long as you have "URL: Bypass selected - Web Filters (Out) {2.d}" enabled. The web filters should not touch the inserted files. I guess I should have mentioned that.. LoL

Thx for the input.
