Questions and Answers / How do you extract just the filename..
« on: September 01, 2002, 04:26:55 PM »
Sidki!!!! YESSSSSSSS!!!

That last section did it - the filter still kills embed sounds, AND shows the file name, just in case you MIGHT like it....

Thanks mate - I'll owe you two beers now, when you come to Aussieland..

TEggHead thanks, it seems to be ok in theory, but in practice the midi slips
through the filter now.

This is the site I'm using to test it (Christmas midi embeded)
http://www.auburn.edu/~vestmon/christmas.html

with the old filter, it shows the prox.css link mid - <full path><name>.mid
with the new one it shows the embeded player..

Using this embeded midi filter

Name = "Embed BGsound Link Sept 0102"
Active = TRUE
URL = "$TYPE(htm)"
Bounds = "$NEST(<object,</object>)|<(embed|bgsound)s*>"
Limit = 1024
Match = "*ssrc=("*'|w)1*&*.(mid|midi|mp3|wav|wmx|wma)2"
Replace = "<a class="sound" class="proxlink" href=1>[2 - 1]</a>"

you get "mid - <full internet url/site/path>/jupo.mid"

how do I alter the filter to just have "mid - jupo.mid"
shown??

Just a tiny change so you can see where the sidki filter kicks in without keeping the log open

Name = "Kill comment-block ads [sidki]"
Active = TRUE
URL = "$TYPE(htm)"
Limit = 12000
Match = "<!--[^>]++{0,30}$LST(AdCommentPairs)"
Replace = "<img src="dhtml/Kat.gif"><span class="prox" kill="Comment Block" detail="1"></span>"

(watch the word wrap)
I dunno how to upload a file from my pc to here, so the Katgif is just a little kitty gif (I likie cats). So now when I see the kat.gif, I know the sidki filter worked, and can see if the ad refernece can be moved to the vm filter...

Actully, now that I think of it, does it REALLY matter? after all the advert is gone, innit!!!???

Add this to the first list (adcomments)
it's a 'begin' type

TXTAD ROTATE * END (TXTAD ROTATE)1 *-->

Questions and Answers / Help with LL Bean

Hi, some investigation reveals

http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ShowHomePage?catalogId=1&storeId=1

is used to redirect the front page - mayber your java is disabled?
(if proxo is bypassed, it's not a proxo fault)

Questions and Answers / Scott!! Sorry mate!!!!
« on: July 31, 2002, 04:29:30 PM »
Scott - my apologies (I guess I'm too used to really buggy apps/games).

Proxomitron is NOT at fault - I've just stopped a 36 hr memory test that shows 56080 errors in my 1st memory stick (0-256M). It's gone back for replacement.

Now running on one stick, Proxo just shows the usual errors (the flush error, not proxo), and the old one it's had since I first started using it over 3 yrs ago (or so) - it just suddenly stops responding to the browser (shows 'waiting for connection' in the main window. Shutting off Proxo & IE then restarting both ususally fixes it. And it's a very very rare fault.

So, again, sorry....

"She admitted they had made a mistake, but that was just too bad. "Anyone can make a mistake and I could not mean that ComputerCity should do anything about that". "

Well, here in Australia, and in UK, the law states that what is advertised MUST be adhered to unless the advert is 'obviously' in error (by that they mean a $1000 computer going for $1.00 - obviously a mistake).

Did you get a photo? - if not, go back with a throw-away camera (single use camera), and get a photo of the store, and then a closer one of the sign (even witht he scrubbed out bit) - if anyone asks why, say 'for impending legal action'. That may put the willies into them - if not, then you DO have proof!

My sympathies to your son (hey, he writes well, doesn't he!!). Lets mailbomb them!!  LOL

Cosmetic / How you want it!
« on: July 30, 2002, 04:18:53 PM »
If there's one thing I do dislike, it's links that are 'hidden' - you know, the same as the text - "click here" with the 'here' being the link, but all the same as the rest - I like to KNOW!! where things are..

If you're using the prox.css, add this to it, it will give you a coloured scroll bar, and a hand icon for links (the scroll bar is to show proxo is active, as opposed to using a filter to add it to the title bar!!).

BODY{
scrollbar-face-color:#7198A5;
scrollbar-arrow-color:#aabbcc;
scrollbar-track-color:#a1c8d5;
scrollbar-shadow-color:#FFFFFF;
scrollbar-highlight-color:#c0c0c0;
scrollbar-3dlight-color:#aabbcc;
scrollbar-darkshadow-Color:#aabbcc;}

a:link { CURSOR: hand !important;
text-decoration : none !important;}

Guys!!1 You've done it!!

It's an almost infallible filter for comment ads, yet cpu use is under 9% when this filter kicks in!!

It would be handy for the second filter (I'm using them in line, vm then sidki's - I assume that's what's ment to be!!) recorded the name of the comment too - at the moment I check the log window and if I see the sikdi filter kick in, I do a debug load and record the name of the ad comment, then manually put it into the vm filter adlist.txt
<whew was there a breath in all that??>

Spam Blockers / Kill Comment Block Ads: Another One
« on: July 28, 2002, 06:35:25 PM »
Hi sidki & altosax,

<quote>
Risk of unpaired matches:
Begin PayCounter * End Burst Main Media Code
This happens because the closing comment is missing sometimes.
</quote>

Yes, I've noticed this - I've had a few sites (simtel net australia for eg)
that I had to put into a bypass-comment-killer list - else the entire download listing would be not there!!

Umm, but surely having a close comment missing would also mean your new filter would miss it? (I guess missing it is better than killing it all, LOL!!)

I liked altosax's idea of using BOTH filters - from his other post 28-07-2002
use the <--- start|begin|..... to get the quickie easy ones, which are then skipped by the heavy duty killer (this current one). Missed ads are killed bythe HD killer filter (hey, my names here, not really a heavy dity..).

Guys, this entire subject is really interesting, thanks for the new ideas!!

(side track here - is the second filter in this new ad killer (the filter that records slip-through ads pairs) supposed to record the full comment name?

On mine it just records the comment name up to the first space -
"start reget blaster ad" is recorded as "... ... reget .." (ad is made up, and the ... represents stuff the filter adds itself in the filter code))

Spam Blockers / Kill Comment Block Ads: Another One
« on: July 28, 2002, 03:00:43 AM »
Oops, sorry guys!!!

Name = "Kill comment-block ads old"
Active = TRUE
URL = "$TYPE(htm) & (^$LST(AllowComBlock))"
Bounds = "<!-- (anfang|auto|begin|insert|loader|open|start|$LST(CommentBlocks))*<!-- (auto|complete|done|end|inserted|$LST(CommentBlocks))s*-->"
Limit = 10400
Match = "<!-- (*(anfang|auto|begin|insert|loader|open|start) & "
        "*($LST(CommentBlocks))1) *"
Replace = "<span class="prox" kill="Comment Block" detail="1">"
          "</span>"

is the filter I'm using, on heavy sites it gives 12% use; your one, the same site does 58% use.

Altosax (sorry again**)

Yes, those tags are correct, the full tag is
begin PROMOS & ADS * end PROMOS & ADS *-->

the site is

http://www.consumptionjunction.com/feat/cc/browse.asp?type=3
(this is a GOOD paried ad filter test - it has lots!!

** I must be having an 'idiot' day here!!

This is a cool filter - it missed some like

begin PROMOS & ADS and
begin txtad

Also, cpu use is high - 58% as opposed to 12% for the standard paired ad catcher.. must be all those wild cards..

Nice work tho, guys!!
