Hi "Proxo-Users",

This is Great!! This was what I was hoping for when I started this Folder! Thank You One and All! Like a "One-Stop-Shop" for Proggies! When You download a new program and You read the details about it, You know the web-site is just going to say great things about. How many of us, have downloaded some Proggie that suppose to be the best thing that's come along since "they put pockets on shirts", and then it doesn't do anything but conflicts with other apps, full of "ET Servers" and trogans, or worse it crashes Your "Beloved" 20lbs Silicon Diode paper weight???

With everybody contributing to this thread like this, we not only have a collection of "Time Used and Proved" Apps, but the shared experience of Using the Programs! And if anybody had a problem with configurations of a certain program then we know where to get some help with it. Plus with everyone running different O/Ses, we can know how a certain App will run in a certain environment! Great!!!

Here is some programs I have been working on. Instead of using My ISP's Smtp server, I set a Mail server up on My Over-priced Silicon Diode Paper Weight and by-passed the whole thing. I can send/receive Mail twice as fast as before since it comes straight to me! I have tested probably about 10 and here is the best All around one I have found.
http://www.argosoft.com/applications/mailserver/download.asp
Of course I downloaded the Free version!

And here is another Ghost-mail type Program that I like very much, it's called "U-Mail". It doesn't come with a couple of default smtp servers or a default remailer, but it does have an address book, and a feature that will allow You save the messages that You write, so in about 2 or 3 mouse clicks, You can be on Your way to e-mail that special someone You've been think of e-mailing. I've Ghost mail, this one and a few other chained to the Mail server above! http://users.otenet.gr/~aorf/

I hope that each and everyone of You have just the best day ever!
"Jak"=:-)

PS:" I'm testing a "Bounce Spam-mail" proggie right now that works for Web-based E-mails(Yahoo, Hotmail,etc..). If it pans out to be a keeper, I post it soon"--"

Hi "Geekster",

Welcome to the FORUM! Glad You are here! Thanks for the information and the Links. I went to the spywareinfo site and their download page was down at the moment so I tried to find some more links to the "proggies". BHODemon at http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm and BHOCaptor at http://www.webattack.com/get/bho.shtml

Also here is where You might find some open relays for the e-mail proggies. I went there and tested a bunch of them and found only a couple that were usable. You have to subscibe to look at the first 2000 of them. They are the result of the most current list. But the rest of the list can be viewed by anyone.
http://www.openrelaycheck.com/orc/openrelaylist.asp
But the ones I checked by sending an e-mail to my-self, and checking the Full headers revealed my IP. They hid the Host name, but forwarded my IP through.

Also on the "3D Trace-route" proggie on the Whois feature it contacts a web-site to gather the info. I thought that The site might be a good candidate for PROXO's "USE RPA" list. so where it queries that site the connection would be make through a Remote Proxy. I haven't had time Yet to find out what port/ports the other features use. But it should be interesting.

And again "Geekster" let me take this opportunity to WELCOME YOU, to (What I believe to be) the Best FORUM on the "NET"!
Have a Great & Wonderful Day,
"Jak"

Hi Proxo-Friends,

Here is a great little program that does a lot of great big things. It's 3D Trace-route Program. It's one of the few proggies that will actually Do more than what is advertised. However, if You do check it out, don't download the Newest Beta version(1.6.36:83). It has a problem with the built-in browser.

I downloaded the next older version(v1.6.35:80 2002-08-18) and it didn't have the browser problem. Also when You install it, it automatically adjusts to Your Default browser settings, so if Your default browser is set-up to use "Proxo", then I suppose ALL the Browsing features should be routed through "Proxo". I'm not sure about that, I haven't tested it that far Yet!

Here's a list of the Features:
Core features:

3d traceroute display, multiple graphics modification options
statistic-window with min, max, average, standard deviation
Whois query to everything with one click
history-window with destination ping time
record and playback: record any trace and playback step by step
and the browser is already built in.
3d Traceroute besitzt eine integrierte deutschsprachige Oberfl?che.
Einfach starten, Umschaltung erfolgt automatisch.
Day and Night trace: Admins beloved toy
Command-line execution mode. Full replacement for good old buddy tracert.
Domain Harvester: helps to find similar domains
passive OS fingerprinting
Port scanner (knows 3,612 well known ports)
IP-Range-Scanner (scan from Start-IP to End-IP)
analyze eMail headers against RBLs
HTTP Server Spy
build in TELNET client
long period Ping and HTTP monitor
Low CPU-Usage
Working with 98, ME, 2K, XP
and if you are lucky, 95, too!

Here is the link for download & ScreenShot:
http://www.hlembke.de/prod/3dtraceroute/

I think  it's a great 'Tool' that any "Computer-Enthusaist" would want to have.
Hope You have a Great & Wonderful Day,
"Jak"

Hi Proxo-Friends,

Here is an e-mail client program that says it has it's own built-in SMTP server, and it has a Hotmail proxy access to get Your Web-Based Hotmail by POP3! I haven't tried it out Yet, but here is the link, and as soon as I get home, I'm a'firin' up the "Ye Ole Downloader" and try this Gentle-man out!http://fox.foxmail.com.cn/english.htm
"Jak"

---------------------------------------
Dear Friends,
I wanted to come back and inform You that The Hotmail Proxy is a "local Proxy" that runs on Your own machine! It's not a Remote proxy out on the Net that You might be a little cautious of gathering You pass-words. And this e-mail program does just like it says it does. It does have an "Express Feature where You can by-pass our Wonderful ISP's SMTP server and mail directly to the address. However, have You enter Your Wonderful ISP's DNS servers before that feature will work!

The only thing that get's my goat now, it that Yahoo started a'chargin' for POP3/SMTP e-mail.

Nice e-mail program with nice inter-face!
Have a Great Week-end My Proxomitronic-Friends~

Hi "Pooms",

Thanks for the reply! I think both machines were running Norton's AV. After that I saw Your Post, I realized that maybe I must have blocked the Norton AV Agent with the Fire-wall. Is that What You were thinking too?

Sometimes I'm like an "Old Mule", You have to hit me in the head with a "2x4" just to get my attention. Thanks for the help, and if there is something else
that I should be looking at, please by all means "en-lighten" me!

Have a Great & Wonderful Day,

HI Friends,

Thanks for the Link ALTOSAX! I was wondering why that Hotmail was giving a "Spam Bug" alert when I sent mail to People who have Hotmail accounts with Ghost Mail. Now I know! I have also been using "Mail Washer" that does the samething as "Albert's Bounce-Mail" program. Mail Washer works for e-mail Client programs. You can read the E-mails while they are still on the e-mail server, and delete them without even downloading them on to Your machine. But the feature that I like best of all, is that You can automatically "bounce" the SPAM back to the SPAMMER with an error message that say mail can not be delivered and there is no such e-mail addy!LOL!  Here is where You can find "Mail Washer".

Take Care and Thanks again for the Links!

Hi "Proxo-Friends",

Thanks for the LINKS! I am glad there are still some places that You can find Ghost mail. There was another Version that I found, but the link was dead. I think it was Ghost-Mail6.10. Here is the small zip.file that I'm using in the *Extra Headers* and a Fake *X-Mailer* header. Just "copy & Paste" the values just the way they are in the appropriate box. I had to send my-self several mails in order to "stagger" the values so they looked right when I checked the "Full Headers" in the e-mail. Change anything in them that You wish. Also if You have other added headers I would really like to get a copy of them also. I would greatly like to know if You have a list of POP/SMTP Servers that would hide Your IP when You send Fake E-mails. And if there is anything that I could change in the Headers that I've written to make them better and more convincing, please let me know!

Hi Proxo-Friends,
I been having a ball sending Fake e-mails to some of my buddies with this little proggie. It's called "GHOST MAIL". You can send e-mails and be anybody that You want to be, and have the reply send back to Your e-mail box.

You can also add extra Header, write a "Fake User X-mailer" header! It comes with about 3 default POP3 servers, and a default Remailer! However, I could get but one of the POP servers to work, and sometimes the re-mailer won't accept the bogus e-mail addy because it can't re-solve the domain. You can also send Attachments! I have written some Fake *Extra Headers* and a fake X-Mailer Header which I will up-load here when I get access to my home machine, just in case You might want to take a look at them.[Of course You know I added a *Fake* Anonymous Nym-remailer-Server to the String]

It's very quickly dissappearing from every download site, so You might want to get a copy before it's gone. But I have a copy if anyone can't find it.
I might also mention that it will hold about five or six e-mail addys before the next entry deletes the oldest one, so You might want to copy the information before You add to many and lose some of the defaults POP servers! I did a search to find some free POP servers and kept adding them and lost one or two of the defaults. So I deleted it and tried re-installing it, but it remembered the last settings that I had. I had to wait until I installed it for a friend before I could get the defaults.
Here is the only link I could find today for "gm5.1.zip", it's Item number 325 on the FTP list. http://sac-ftp.externet.hu/comm7.html

Take Care and Have Fun, but be safe, it's illegal to send unsolicitated mail! especially if it "appears" to be coming from a certain [[email protected]] Also Your IP still does show through even if You use the default re-mailer!

Have Just the Greatest Day Ever,
"[email protected]"

Computers rescued from scrap heap,
repaired in prison, sent to schools

Taking a Byte Out of Crime

The factory floor is brimming with computer parts. Hard drives, monitors and circuit boards cover workbenches. Electronic equipment, in various stages of assembly, is stacked everywhere.

A personal computer factory with an inventory overload? In a way, yes. This is the scene at the Wynne prison unit of the ***** Department of Criminal Justice (*****) in Huntsville where prisoners refurbish computers as part of a work- training program. The finished computers are delivered to ***** schools.

Since its beginning in October, the Computer Recovery Program has shipped 91 computers to 12 schools. That's just a start. Another 70 schools have asked for 1,107 computers. To meet the demand, officials will add a second shift early this year and may go into production 24 hours a day. The program is to expand to the Gatesville and Coffield prison units this year.

The program, approved by the 1999 Legislature, could help alleviate several critical problems.

One is the question of what to do with obsolete computers. State agencies and universities threw away or stored more than 50,000 computers in 1998, up from 37,481 in 1997. In 1994, the number was 14,045.

Another is the need for computers in ***** classrooms. The demand for the recovery program's products is ample evidence of that. Schools were notified of the program through the mail.

The computer repair and assembly skills inmates receive in the program should help prepare them for employment when they are released from prison. Job studies show that computer technicians are in demand. Other studies show that released inmates with marketable skills are less likely to return to prison.

Legislative OK
The program was authorized in a law written by Sen. Bill Ratliff, based on work done by the ***** Comptroller's office.

"It sounded like a reasonable and very cost-effective proposal if the prisoners could rehabilitate those PCs and put them back in use," Ratliff says. "It gave them a way to be trained on electronics and it is a source of rehabbed computers."

Under the program, ***** Correctional Industries(TCI), the prison system's work-training program, can receive, repair or refurbish and resell the state's surplus or salvaged data processing equipment. That allows state agencies to send everything from personal computers to typewriters to the Wynne Unit.

TCI factories employ more than 6,500 inmates overall, with about 60 working in the Computer Recovery Program.

So far, the program has been overwhelmed by the response from suppliers--state agencies and universities--and customers--the schools, which get first dibs on the computers. State agencies and other political subdivisions in the state are next in line.

Growing problem
By October 1999, the program had received 1,400 desktop computers, 2,000 monitors, 370 printers, 85 typewriters, eight printers from mainframe computers, two mainframe disk drives and two fax machines. That adds up to 50 tons of equipment. By December, the total had reached 125 tons.

Finding a useful place for obsolete computers is a national problem. An estimated 20.6 million computers were deemed obsolete in 1998, according to a study from the National Safety Council, but just 2.3 million computers--11.3 percent- -were recycled. The rest were sent to landfills, stored in warehouses or sold for pennies on the dollar. About a third of the equipment that goes to TDCJ's program is unusable and scrapped.

Mike Vandervort, associate vice president and business manager for the University of ***** at xxxxxxx, has shipped several pallets of computers to TDCJ. "The new TDCJ computer recovery program is a great way to dispose of computers that will eventually end up in public schools," he says.

The Comptroller's office has shipped 326 units to the program (terminals, monitors, printers and hard drives).

Chris O'Dell, the agency's Information Resources Manager, says, "Once Workstation Support removes all sensitive information and software from the computer equipment, all we have to do is put it on pallets and shrink wrap it; TDCJ does the rest."

By December, 13 state agencies and universities had shipped equipment to the program. Agencies sending old equipment include the Comptroller's office, the Attorney General's office, the ***** Workforce Commission, the ***** Department of Public Safety, *** ******* State University, the ***** Board of Architectural Examiners and the ***** Water Development Board.

Inmate training
While the program extends the life of computers, it also provides training for inmates. Candidates for the program must have good disciplinary records, participate in vocational classes through the TDCJ's Windham School District and express a desire to acquire vocational skills. Participants are usually two to five years from release. They become certified computer technicians after completing the program.

Using existing TDCJ funds and revenue from scrap sales, the initial capital outlay plus staff costs was about $400,000 for the first year of the program. Lawmakers provided no additional money to TCI for the project.

TDCJ will track the program's workers after their release.

Like any computer maker, recovery program officials want to satisfy their customers. So far, they have.

The first computers went to schools in the Huntsville Independent School District. Katherine M. Young, a pre-school teacher at *** ******** Elementary, wrote to the program after getting the PCs:
"The children were very excited about receiving [the refurbished computers]. Words could never express how grateful we are to you and everyone that prepared them for our use. They will be a very valuable asset in our classroom. Thank you very, very much!"

Hi "Proxo-Friends",

I have a question about Proxomitron, Win XP, E-mail Clients, and ZAP.
I have tried to set-up Proxomitron and ZAP together on a couple machines running "Win-XP". They seem to get along together just fine. However, I am running into trouble with some of the E-mail clients that were running on the machines. One was running Out-look express, but the other machines were using different mail clients. But the problem was the same.

On the first Machine, I was able to access the mail and send mail. No Problems. However, on the second machine I could not access the mail server, send or receive mail. It's the same ISP, and the same "Pop mail server that the first one was using!" I can shut down ZAP and the mail works fine, start-up ZAP and the E-mail client, says, "Are You sure this server is a POP3 mail Server"?

I have given the mail clients complete access on any protocol and any port. I know that something needs to be configured to allow the e-mail clients to get out, but I have found it yet. I have run into this problem once on Win98 too.

Oh, by the way, it's an older version of ZAP [ZAP-2.6.], not "ZAP-3". But I downloaded the Free Trial Version of ZAP-3 and try that, but I have the same problem.

Has anybody else run into this problem? And if so, what can I do to solve it?

And as always I appreciate any and all replies.
Have a Great & Wonderful Day My Friends,

Soon I'm gonna take it to "strip-road" when I get a chance to, and see what it will do in the quarter!

I'm glad that You decided to Up-load it. You got some things going on "under the hood" that I want to look into a little further.

Take Care and Thanks again for sharing. When You up-load something into the FORUM, You give a little bit Your-self to it. And members from all over the globe can enjoy the treasure that You share with them.

Hi "CJ",

Good to see You on the FORUM!
I went and checked out the Privoxy Program, and if I'm not mistaken, I think the default listening port for the Privoxy program is 8118. I'm not sure though. I would enter the Local-host IP and Privoxy's default port number in "Proxo's" Remote Proxy list. 127.0.0.1:8118
That's where I would start at anyway.

When I get a chance I will download it check it out. I like the specs on it.

Take Care CJ, and I hope that You have a Great After-Noon!
Best Wishes,
"Jak"
