Configuration Files / JD's config set (updated 08-12-02)
« on: August 02, 2002, 02:04:43 PM »
Hi JD

I am running WinMe & IE5.5.  I am using the original filter set and have not add any filters.  "Run time errors" problems occurs in JD_default, JD_Newbie and JD5000 filter set except on the default set.  I suspect it has to do with some filters dealing with picture/graphic, because when the sites tries to load some pic/graphic, the run tiem error message would pop up.

Hi, JD
Just installed your filter and installation ran very smoothly.  However, I keep getting "Run time errors" message on some sites using your filter set which don't occur when using a default filter.  Could try these sites and tell me which filter that I should untick

Microsoft Help / Printing in foreign language

Doesn't the printer print whatever it's sent?

Really?! I don't know about it.  At the moment, I could view foreign languages in IE after I download some special fonts from other machines for viewing these languages but when I try to print it out, they don't appear on the printout.

you'd have to convert it before sending it to print.

What do you mean by converting?  How can we do that?

Urr.. don't know whether it is appropriate to ask this type of question here..

Currently I am using WinMe English version, how can I set up the computer so that it could print in languages other than English?

Questions and Answers / Remote Proxy & Bypass list
« on: June 24, 2002, 03:13:00 AM »
Currently I am using Proxomitron with the remote proxy feature on.  This proxy is specified by my ISP and can't be changed.  If I add a site to bypass list, I could not access that site as the proxy is not used.

1. How can I bypass a site so the site would not be filtered by Proxomitron but is still connecting to the remote proxy? (without changing the IE setting each time)

2. How can I bypass a site so the site would still be filtered by Proxomitron but only certain filters are left out?

Community Discussions (Non-Forum Related) / Popup Testing Page

Thanks, sidki3003
Just try the site, the Proxo works fine for most of test, although the filter fails in A1, B1 & C2 test.

I have some troubles in dealing "Test C2. The stubborn popup".  A dialog box will jump up telling me to close the popup killing software and this dialog box could not be closed. I have to close the browser completely to solve this problem.

JD5000, does the filter you just mention here stop the last one?

Questions and Answers / How to set Proxy right?
« on: May 31, 2002, 10:52:41 AM »
Thanks, Arne
It is working now.  I thought we need to set the same setting as required by ISP even if we use the remote proxy setting.  After I reset the browser setting it works beautifully.

NO. It's not AOL.  My last ISP goes bellied up suddenly, so I just move to the new one today and it takes me nearly over an hour to register the new account.  The browser just would not work if you don't set the proxy as given by the ISP.

BTW, there seems to be somthing wrong with the site.  When I try to go this site, it keeps redirecting me to this address  http://127.0.0.1/.  I need to retry a few times before I could enter the site.

Questions and Answers / How to set Proxy right?
« on: May 31, 2002, 06:47:01 AM »
Sorry guys, I just want to know how to set the proxy set for Proxo.  Before, I just set proxy as localhost: 8080.  But I recently change to a new isp and they require to use proxy when browsing.  I have checked the manual of Proxo, and it states

"If you are already connecting through a proxy server, you'll need to set the Proxomitron to use your original HTTP proxy settings"

so I have done the following

1.I tick the box for using the remote setting.
2. I add the new proxy number xxx.x.xxx.x :8080
3.I go to advance setting. Tick the box for sending user name and passwords to proxy.  Set put in the details.

But Proxo is still not working.  What else do I need to do?

Spam Blockers / AD Filters
« on: March 26, 2002, 05:28:27 AM »
Thanks Chris for your filters,

I just have installed your filters and it works fine.  However, I do get into a trouble in opening some pages.  I am referring links which includes # symbols in the sentence.  Normally when it is clicked, it opens up a new page.  After I use your filter, I could no longer do so.  I am not sure which filter causes the problem  So could you tell me which one should I turn off?

Security - General / Proxomitron & Zone Alarm
« on: March 10, 2002, 07:26:21 AM »
Does Proxomitron work with Zone Alarm Pro?  I've just recently updated my ZA pro to version 3 and since then every time I use Proxomitron and I could not access the website at all.  Is there something that I need to tweak for it to work again?

Feature-Block / Javascripted links
« on: January 08, 2002, 10:58:45 AM »
Thanks Arne

I have merged the new cfg file successfully with default file without sweat.  It is easier than I think.  However, I still encounter some problems with Javascript links.

1. With Javascripted links such as "javascrip:openmess" (from http://tianying.xilubbs.com) the filter converts the javascript link to normal link successfully.  Yet the layout of page becomes disorganised(I don't know whether it is because the pages is in Chinese or not) and once you rightclick the link and none of the links could work.

2.With "javascrip:ViewOneAd" (from a English site this time), the filter has no effect on the site at all and javascript still exists.

regards,
pandoras_box

Feature-Block / Javascripted links
« on: January 08, 2002, 07:03:41 AM »
Dear Arne

I am new here and I know nothing about the html & language.  I just have few questions wanted to ask.

1.Does this filter allow a java script link to be opened by right mouse click(open new window) or just press the link a new URL link window would be opened?

2. Do we need to include "...." or just the words within quotes to the fileds in the filter?

3. How do we make it work with Javascripted links such as "javascrip: openmess" or "javascrip:ViewOneAd openmess"and convert them to normal links

sincerely,
pandoras_box
