Please excuse me if this is a silly question, but I'm a fairly new user. I've just installed your filter set but I can't access my Hotmail account now. I keep getting your own login screen but it won't accept my usual ID and password, it just keeps returning to the same screen.

What am I doing wrong or what should I do to avoid this?

hi sargasso,
i've tested it and it works fine (from italy :), btw i've update my filter set to release 2.50m now.
try with the new release, otherwise disable the filter "Hotmail login".
to disable it, open proxomitron window, click on "web page" button, scroll all filters and uncheck "Hotmail login".
that's all. in this way you will not bypass anymore the usual hotmail web page for login.

NOTE: my filter set use ssl encryption so when you try to access Hotmail with my filter set it expexts a secure connection, do you have the needed dll's? if not download them from links provided in this forum or on my proxomitron page. if you don't want to use ssl encryption, open proxomitron windows, click on config button, then on HTTP tab and uncheck "Use SSLeay".

hope this helps.

regards,
altosax.

Thanks for the additional info, but still no joy.   I've unchecked the 'Hotmail Login' which brings back Hotmail's own login screen, but I still keep getting bounced back to it when I try to enter.   Disabling Proxomitron is the only way I can get in right now, so there's obviously something on my PC that's causing it.

I'm away for a few days now but I'll try to resolve this when I get back. Incidentally, I do have the dlls for SSL in the main directory, I don't think that's the problem. As soon as I know more I'll post again. In the meanwhile, if you do have any more thoughts...

hi sargasso,

i'm sorry but if your problem is not caused by the filter set i need more infos to help you. describe your problem in the section "microsoft help" of this forum and someone here will help you.

the last two things that i can say you about the filters are:
1. you have to place the ssl dll's in the same folder of the file proxomitron.exe (right click on them, copy and paste);
2. you have to allow hotmail cookies to access it with proxomitron enabled.

take a look in the list allowcookie.txt: if hotmail cookie is not allowed add this line:

*.hotmail.*

feel free to post again to require more help,
regards,
altosax.

Hey Alto... This is great that you had done such a wonderful job on your site, as well as your release as it is based on Paul's... Now there are two very good sets for others to use. As for me I have always used Paul's since the very beginning and as it is fully loaded it is all I need. I suppose eventually as time allows I will incorporate other filters or .cfg files as I learn more of ther functions fully.

I just assumed that seeing as how Hotmail filters were included that cookies for Hotmail were also allowed - doh! Teach me to look at everything first.

Thanks again for the help.

hi sargasso,
from your reply, i guess that it was a cookie problem, now solved. well.

in my filter set, hotmail cookies are allowed so i guess also that you haven't correctly installed the package.

to install a filter set you have to move your file "default.cfg" and your folders "html" and "Lists" in a different location (for backup reasons), replacing them with the one provided by the author, have you installed the filters this way? if yes, the problem was in my filters, otherwise was elsewhere.

altosax.

I must confess I'd simply unzipped the package to my Proxomitron folder, overwriting any similarly named files already there. I've now gone back to basics, reinstalled it all and saved the original .cfg and .txt files as backups as you said - surprise, surprise, it all worked first time as it should.

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who tends to install software then experiment with it to understand it, rather than reading often unhelpful manuals - sometimes I come unstuck though and ask stupid questions, but I've learnt my lesson, certainly with Proxomitron!

Thanks for your help, I hope my next posting on this forum will be a more contributory one.

Sargasso.

More and more I like what you do!
I especially like the inclusion of the dumbsites filter.

Keep up the good work!
 BTW: What browser are you using?

Thanks,

i took the header filter with dumbsites from jor's filter set (thanks :).
his filter set for opera and mozilla users is a really good one.

i'm using ie 5.5 but i need to show opera as user agent for the reasons i wrote to jakbenimble:

- some favourite sites of mine are ie hostile;
- many script are not executed if they detect opera.

if you like my filter set, take a deep look to ALL files in the folders "lists" and "html": probably you will like it even more.

altosax.

hi all, members,

i've just updated my filter set based on zxlist to release 2.50p now (zipped file, 88 kb).

direct link: http://virgolamobile.50megs.com/binaries/proxofilters.zip
proxo page: http://virgolamobile.50megs.com/proxomitron.html

here the changes:
* removed 3 useless filters (anyway they were setted to false);
* rearranged order of some filters;
* improved speed filtering by addition of $TYPE and $NEST
  commands practically to all filters;
* some filters and some lists updated;
* some tweaks to various filters;
* no new filters added.

remember to read the file "leggimi.txt", in both english/italian languages.

regards,
altosax.
