Language Rotation Filter
« on: March 25, 2002, 07:00:00 AM »
Hi Proxo-Users,
             Once a member of The FORUM ask about how to change the Lanuage header to a different language. Now here is a Filter and a Link where you can download the list for "Jak's Language Rotation Filter". It changes the Language with each page fetched! I like the action of a rotation Filter, so I have several of them at work in Proxo. Here is the Filter.
                         --------Start Filter-------
                     Key="Accept-Language:(Out) 'Rotation'th"
                     Url="*"
                     Match="$LST(Speech)"
                     Replacement="1"
                         -------End Filter--------
Remember the " are not part of the Filter they just show where the filter
values start and end. Now here is the link to the Arne's Sub-Forum where you can get the list to use with the Filter. http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/fu/users/31_20.zip  Also you will need to name the list, when you add it to Proxo's Block lists, the same as it is in the Filter, "Speech". You can re-name the list to what ever name that you want to, but you have to put that same name in the Filter also. Just as long as they both match.  I hope you enjoy using it. I encluded in the list, the Language and the Country where it is from.
I hope that you have a Wonderful & Blessed Day, My Friends!
"Jak"

Language Rotation Filter
« Reply #1 on: March 25, 2002, 07:44:02 PM »
hi jak,

ok, nice filter, and now?
accept-language is a very useful header, for example google use it so if i try to connect to www.google.com the server shows me the page in italian language (that i could also reach at www.google.it). it is an advantage for user not an attempt to violate his privacy so a rotate filter is useless.
i think instead that could be useful a filter to change the language of the page send by the server (if they are available). for example, if i like page in french i could use this filter:

In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "Accept-Language: Set French (out)"
Match = "*"
Replace = "fr"

in this way, when i go to www.google.com it shows me the french page (located also at www.google.fr).
other reason to not change accept-language is that you don't know which site could have page in your language.

just my opinion.

in any case, thanks for the filter and have nice holidays.

regards,
altosax.

hi again jak,

i've forgot to add this info:

you can read all you need about headers (and http 1.1) in the rfc2616.
you can download it from:

http://zvon.org/tmRFC/RFC_share/Output/index.html

it is really a good lecture, also good for writing filters ;)

regards,
altosax.

Hi "Altosax",
            Hey thanks for the link! I'll check it out when I get time. I always interested in learning about subjects that are interesting to me, and making filters is definately interesting to me. Glad that you like the Filter, even though it will cause a page to load in a different language every now and then.  But it tickles me to know that the Proxo header was so convincing that the server send me the page in that language! Usually when I use google, there is a place there on the page where I can click to get the page in my language.

You should see the "log Window" in my Proxo arrangement. I have just about every setting & Filter you can think of in Rotation! It would take surfing along time before you can get the same header arrangement again. I kinda like it that way.

And thanks for showing your language Filter, also. Please keep in touch, MY FRIEND!. And I hope that You and Your Family have a Wonderful and Bless Holiday!

yes jak,
i've downloaded and read it time ago, but i use now a filter that set opera as user agent. i prefer this because some sites i use to visit are ie hostile and because some javascript aren't executed if they detect opera.

i could also use a rotate filter with all user agent different from ie but my philosophy is do the things in the simplest way. i know that using a rotate filter could hide your identity but i show my ip because i don't use a proxy so what difference could make a filter? this is the reason i prefer filter the help me to load a page faster, delete banner and so on.

regards my friend,
and have a great day you too,
altosax.

Hi "Altosax",
            I understand. I surf most of the time without using a proxy also, but I have a filter that will automatically engage a Proxy if I want to surf to a site that happens to be an "un-safe site". There is a FREE access Anonymizing Proxy that Filters ads, that I use with this Filter. It does an excellent job at cloaking your IP, and sites can't detect that you are even using a Proxy. It works really well, and it's doesn't slow your machine down to much. When I get to my machine at home I will send you the address. It might be alittle faster for you because of your location.
   And as always, I appreciate all comments and observations. I learned along time ago, to listen to all comments whether good or bad, and look for the truth in them. I have been better for it. And I respect your opinions. Most of the time other opinions teach me to look at things a different way or see something that I hadn't seen before. Also thanks for the considerations for looking at my Filters and text.files and your comments on them.
I hope you have a Great and Wonderful Day. Safe-Surfing MY GOOD FRIEND!
"Jak"

Dear "Altosax",
              I'm sorry that I haven't sent you the e-mail I promised to send you. This is the first opportunity I've had to get to my machine, where that information is store. I up-loaded it on the Sub-Forum instead just in case any one might be interested in using the Anonymizing CGI Filters, and that Ad-Filtering Proxy. Here is the link: http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/fu/users/32_21.zip
I hope that you have a Beautiful and Delightful Day, My FRIEND!
