JD's config set (updated 08-12-02)
« on: May 08, 2002, 08:04:10 PM »
EDIT: Updated 08/12/02

-----------

This is my config set for Proxomitron, it has been tested in Opera6, IE6 & Mozilla 1.1.

Features,

- Made with Proxomitron newbies in mind.
- Almost every "web page" filter in the list has been modified in some way.
- Includes a few original site specific filter set's.(deviantart, google & yahoo groups)
- Includes my Proxomitron "error page" replacements. (Matrix style)
- Has multiple options for Ad killing & JS handling.
- Includes updated Ad Lists.
- All lists & HTML "bits" are kept in seperate folders.
- "Web page" filters are broken down into groups.
- Many original filters.
- Can be used without overwriting your default config.
- Kill's can be hidden by disabling a filter.("Insert Style Sheet - Show Kills")
- Highlight's "email", "javascript", "redirect", ftp & image links.
- Includes two SLIGHTLY modified Super-Opener filters.
- Includes a ranking system for filters. To help those new to Proxomitron.
- Includes three configs.
     - JD5000 = What I recommend for those trying my config. A nice mix of filters.
     - JD_Basic = Only basic Ad & Pop-up blocking. Plus filters to disable annoying javascript.
     - JD_Default = My daily config. Industrial strength filtering. ^_^

I totally agree altosax. That's the reason I posted, for the newbies who want to try something different & so other users can give me tips/advice on how to improve it for myself.

I have the same sentiments exactly as altosax...

Most recently I have replied on the same TOD. Yes - Shared filters sets are a great asset with "all" fellow proxo users, and to newbies alike.

Keep up the good work, and thank you.

Hey JD

Just browsed with your new config. It runs very smooth, no distortions, no ad debris.
Nice that all files are in a separate folder now. No need for timestamping them any more, as i use to do with other config sets.
This URL command toolbar comes in very handy as well

The only page i couldn't open was
http://www.schooner.com/~loverso/no-ads/
Gues why . Probably there are only a handfull serious pages with such a URL out there.

BTW, the speed is also very nice, Deviantart gave me fantastic 11s today

regards, sidki

Hiya Sidki3003,

Happy it worked for you. I Spent the past couple of days working on the ad filters. Yeah, I used to have 6-9 diff folders of Proxo with the various config sets.. I'm starting to really enjoy the toolbar also.  LoL, I noticed that side-effect, it killed a site on me too.

Dunno what I did to make DA faster... lol

ad(log|vert(enties|s|)|s) is the line that kills that url - it sees the no-ads/ bit...

Can someone remind me how to NOT something? - ad(log|vert(enties|s|)|s) NOT no-ads???

Usually by appending &(^no-ads), but that won't work here,
because it's a list called within a special match.
You might find it easier to change the line to
ad(log|vert(enties|s|))

Great update!  I gave up on the last one because I was unable to download files from MajorGeeks.  Tried sticking URL in any & all of the exception lists (bypass) with no luck.  Instead of seeing the popup window for Download would get a page of characters.  I was looking forward to using this new one.  Alas, still unable to d/l.  With the exception of turning off most Cookies tags have not changed anything else.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello oltelman,

It's the "Content-Type: If Unknown - Filter Contents (in) {1.d}" filter in the headers section.

I think, I better bump up the rank on that one, for the next release.
