It seems as things are working again now after the change of ISP. I have only tested for a couple of minutes after changing all the paths and stuff, but please tell me when you find anything that does not work. There must be some more things It could not be this easy.

I had to turn off email notification until they have fixed my mailserver. It has been punched in, but will take a few hours before it is running.

Hey, glad to hear that. I am typing my fingers off since the new server does not accept very many of my INCLUDE files thing. And it seems I have to change them all. But the most important things are running (I think) LOL

I get no errors now, at least and I don't get notifications on my own postings. But since no errors are shown, it should work now.

I have got most things to run now, except som stats and logs I used while the attacks were going on, so who cares if they work these first days. But please report to me if there are some important things I have missed while changing all these things to fit the new host.

And while I was bored with all the waiting and all the mistakes they made, I uploaded another forum (phpBB2). It is running on mySQL and is in fact ready to use - if we wish to change forum. I have not made the graphics and such, so it is just out of the box. I can make it prettier ( I think) if we chose to use it. And which we shall use is up to you folks. I need your opinion on it. And I know it will be impossible to convert all the good ideas and filters here to over there, so I will never close this forum if we chose to use the other one. In that case this one will be open for reading.

The other forum is located here:
http://www.flaaten.dk/phpBB2/index.php

and one has to register and then confirm in order to join. Feel free to use it and see what you think about it. And then give me som feedback on which you like best.

<edit> Just saw your last post. Will have a look at the phpBB2 forum now. </edit>

I am glad it was so easy to get most of the things to work again. And that is some serious speed advantage! And it is nice to see folks popping in again.

Arne, i could see the other forum just one time.
Since then i'm brought back here.
Is this a DNS propagating thing?

It depends on how often the DNS servers around the world are updating. Like yesterday ½ the world could see the old place and the rest was brought to the new place her (which was not working before this morning 10am local time) So it is just a DNS thing which will be fine when everbodies DNS servers are updated.

I know we lost a few posts, and maybe a couple of new members, but I took backups pretty often, so I think we lost only about 2 hours. Difficult to say now since I can not connect to the old server any more.

Just thought i'd voice my praise of the new forum - it is very clean and neat, and a little less bright than this one :)

Also, my personal preference for websites using databases has always been PHP + mySQL. The new site is also, i think, a little faster at loading.

As for the DNS situation, yesterday i got a few 404 errors but only for a short period of time, and all seems fine now.

Thanks Arne

I was just back at the old server. After a couple of 503s with this message

quote:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0005'
Invalid procedure call or argument
//global.asa, line 412

i was brought there. So i could see what was lost:
Only 3 messages in "Other -> Response Headers"
and no new members , last one:

Thanks, I think I have fixed it. It is a log that was sent to me every 6 hours using CDONTS email and this server does not support CDONTS (very strange) So I pulled it out of the global.asa and have started to use ASPMail instead. That seems to work fine.

Nice that we did not lose more over at the old server. Thanks!!
