using Proxomitron with AOL..
« on: August 30, 2002, 02:56:25 PM »
is this possible?

I've been a happy proxomitron user for a few months now, however, unfortuantely i will have to use AOL for a while, beleive me its not out of choice ;)..

I have tried setting it up for the connection as i normally would by setting the AOL dialler to use a proxy but this doesnt seem to work..

I have used the forum search on the word AOL but not found anything..

Am i out of luck here? PLeeeeeeeeeeeease tell me i can still use prox, surfing is HORRIBLE without it!

Hi,

while I'm not using AOL (and won't unless I get a lobotomy), I believe AOL uses a customized version of Internet Explorer. Besides setting the proxy in AOL, also set it in your internet control panel.

If AOL does not allow you to use an external proxy, download a better browser, and connect through there. Once you have connected to the WWW using the AOL software, you should then switch to the other browser, where you _can_ set the proxy settings.

Hope this helps!
