RE: Observations on the new MyBBS layout
Kye-U;
Possible infraction here.... Let's say that I've read the new posts in a thread or topic. Going back up to the index page of that particular sub-forum, I see that the page did not update itself to reflect my current status - it still believes that I haven't read the post(s). Eh bien, I say, and continue navigating up to the main index page. Again with the incorrect status.... according to the main index, I have not yet read the post(s). Refreshing the page (Ctrl-F5) does not improve the situation - I still haven't read the post(s)! Uh oh. I navigate back down to the sub-forum index page, and manually refresh that. It is now correct, it shows that there are no new unread posts. Going back up to the main index page, and it hasn't changed. But manually refreshing it does the trick, it is now correct. All of this tells me that when one reads a post, the index page immediately above does not properly reflect to the reader his/her status without a manual refresh. From there, the main index page relies on those sub-forum pages, so it too is incorrect until all of the lower-level pages have been manually refreshed. Needless to say, this is not very desirable behavior (or behaviour, for the Canuckistani's among us ). IIRC, the phpBB software also did this for awhile, and you finally straightened that out too. Any chance you can work your magic on MyBB, please? ![]() Thanks, buddy! Oddysey I'm no longer in the rat race - the rats won't have me! |
