Yahoo Groups
« on: May 10, 2002, 11:03:35 AM »
Since I changed to the latest filter set (2.50q) for Proxo, I can't access Yahoo Groups, I just get a message - Connection Killed! Connessione Chiusa! - with the previous version I had no problem.   This is despite Yahoo Groups now being included in the AllowCookies.txt filter.

Since I can't find any specific Yahoo Groups filter I'm stumped as to how to proceed to remove this problem.   Can anyone help?

Also when I use Google to search, using their browser resident javascript plugin, the word 'true' keeps appearing in the search field and Google looks for that.   OK, it's only a small but annoying thing but has anyone else experienced this and found a way round it?

Thanks.

hi sargasso,
because you use the release 2.50q, i guess you are using my filter set :)

i'm really sorry, but i haven't the time now to solve this problem (anyway i never had it with 2.50q). if previous release worked, i suggest to use a previous release, in the meantime i will analize your problem and will try to solve it asap.

regards,
altosax.

Hi altosax,

Thanks, for the moment I'm just bypassing Proxo when I was Yahoo Groups. I'll keep looking for a solution to this and if I find one before I see a further post from you, I'll put it here.

Sargasso.

Hi altosax,

I've had a bit of time to check further into this Yahoo Groups problem and I've isolated it in the 'URL-Killer: kill-a-URL (out)' filter.   Unchecking this enables Yahoo Groups to function fine, but I can't see exactly what effect this filter has - can you enlighten me and is it possible to set Proxo so that it's only disabled for Yahoo Groups?

Many thanks,

Sargasso

hi sargasso,
i just accessed yahoo groups with no problem.

i suggest you to delete all cached files and all cached cookies. they are in windows   emporary internet files and windowscookies.

you should never disable the header filter "URL-Killer: kill a url". if you think it is the problem, well, here is what it does:

it scans all Adlists to kill connections with adservers.

if it causes your problem, then re-enable it and try to access yahoo group renaming one at time each of the 3 adlists: addomain, adhost and adpath to find the offending list (every time you need to clear cache). when you find the list blocking your access read all entries to find the offending entry.

obviously, if you remember the added entries, you can remove it directly.

i repeat myself, here all works nice, if you still have problems, i'll try to help you updating the filter set with the one i'm using now (release 2.50r).

regards,
altosax.
