I had come across this from one on the MS sites, and it appears to be dropping a cookie?

"Any" comments are appreciated!

Thank you

Weird... I see a webpage (in Opera), but the source us a GIF file.
I assume this has to do wirh deliberate confusing the browser to drop a cookie.

Opera appears not to be affected.

Yes I have had this come up within the "Privacy Report" and it had blocked the cookie as I access this site. It appears that many of Microsoft's sites are filled with them, web bugs included.
You would be amazed at what thier "Privacy Policy" reveals. Egads!!!

Thank you for the reply. This information is helpful for I am on a web bug/cookie hunt testing of some new softwares, including IE6 with XML imports, and ATT Privacy Bird. http://privacybird.com/

Both these tools are very helpful, and along with Proxomitron Blockfiles, I just about got this thing covered.

Regards,

I get a page with a picture of html code. 4273 bytes 591x79. No attempt to drop a cookie though. IE 6.0
I get the same thing in Opera, but here I get the choice to see the source and that is a lot of garbage starting with GIF89a and no cookie attempt.

Best wishes

Arne that is a gif that I had created. I had extracted the code source, placed it in MetaPad, then created a .gif image that I can post... LOL

As I had noted earlier I had picked up this cookie while using IE6.

1st-party - all "downgraded" to Session cookies
3rd-party - all blocked

Trusted sites:

1st-party - all "leashed" to 1st-party contexts only
3rd-party - all blocked

Eric Howe's site has a very good set of XML imports found here:
http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource5.htm

The ATT Privacy Bird has been set to high, and it allows me to know when I should be checking up on the visited site on demand.

I am not at the beginning of running some tests with the use of all these softwares, and have a thread started at DSLr. I am conidering submitting my results there, but I shall have to see how this develops yet.

Thank you for your time, and patience!
