Help with LL Bean
« on: August 02, 2002, 07:16:05 PM »
Hello, All

Proxo newb here - installed about a week ago - having fun, although the wife gets a little frustrated sometimes.

She hasn't been able to shop at L.L. Bean www.llbean.com (not necessarily a bad thing!).  We get just a blank screen.  Even with Proxo disabled (clicked Bypass button on the Main window), cache cleared, and CTRL-F5, we still get just blank.

Running WinXP, IEv6.  I'm using JD's 7-30 configuration, with the JD5000 set.

Any ideas?  THANKS!

Hmmm... why would it be a JD config thing?  I guess I figured that since I've Bypassed Proxomitron, it couldn't be his configuration.  I am sure that I don't know how Proxo works well enough.  Isn't it just passing through HTML in Bypass mode?

Howdy Deporange,

Try adding, "www.llbean.com/" to the "Bypass List.txt" list. Reload the config, then clear your cache & remove any llbean cookies.

That's the only thing I can think of, that could be causing problems when proxo is in bypass mode.

JD, I've tried your suggestions - still doesn't work!

Just to confirm: are you guys able to access www.llbean.com via your config?

Any other debugging info I can provide?

THANKS -

Well, that sucks.

Yup, using my default config. Can you acces the site with Proxomitron disabled? (Proxy settings removed from IE)

Hi, some investigation reveals

http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ShowHomePage?catalogId=1&storeId=1

is used to redirect the front page - mayber your java is disabled?
(if proxo is bypassed, it's not a proxo fault)

Help with LL Bean
« Reply #8 on: August 03, 2002, 01:49:16 PM »
RESOLVED!  Thanks for your help, guys.

That was a good test, JD.  I removed Proxo as a proxy, going directly to the Internet, and LLBean was still blank.

So, following MorpheusDreamlord's lead, I tried to play with my Java settings.  But I couldn't find a change that seemed to fix the problem.

Then, I simply moved LLBean.com into my Trusted zone and the problem went away.  I'm not precisely sure of the specific setting that has made the difference.  Because I played with the Java settings to no effect, I suspect it might be something else - like Cookies.  I still use IE Cookie security, customized via an XML script (as discussed here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,2927307~root=security,1~mode=flat).  One major difference between my Trusted and Internet (generic) zones is Trusted will write a 1st-party cookie to disk, while Internet keeps cookies for the session only.  Is it possible that LLBean detects/is confused by this?

Anyway, I'm good for now.  Thanks again!
