Hi "My Proxomitronic-Friends",
I was asked a question lately that I wasn't sure about what the answer was, so I thought that I would post it here just in case someone might have some insight on the subject. The question was about "chaining" chats and Proxo together. Chats beening Yahoo messenger, ICQ, or some other chat-ware.
My Friend asked me,"Can a Proxo filter be made to stop other "Users",(not the OP), in a chat-room from "booting" him out of the Room"?
I think that is a good question. I know that it would probably depend on what the "others" were using to boot him out. If it were Scripts, I think possibly a filter might be constucted that would work, but if it was done by forging an "Over-Size Packet",(The 'PING' of Death)not only would it boot You out of the room, but also kill Your connection. Not Very COOL!
I have chained some "chats" to Proxo by setting the Chats connection Proxy setting to Proxo's address and then setting a Remote Proxy in Proxo, to try and "cloak" the IP. Then Me and a Buddy of mine with the same set-up, would take turns Pinging each other and check to see if the IP was hid, now I don't understand it, but sometimes it would work and other times it would not. Possibily some other factors where involved.
Anyway I didn't know what to tell him, so if You have any information that You could share, as always I will be eternally grateful.
Have a Great & Wonderful Week-end, My Good Friends!
