Hi "Proxo-Friends",

                   I have a question about Proxomitron, Win XP, E-mail Clients, and ZAP.
I have tried to set-up Proxomitron and ZAP together on a couple machines running "Win-XP". They seem to get along together just fine. However, I am running into trouble with some of the E-mail clients that were running on the machines. One was running Out-look express, but the other machines were using different mail clients. But the problem was the same.

On the first Machine, I was able to access the mail and send mail. No Problems. However, on the second machine I could not access the mail server, send or receive mail. It's the same ISP, and the same "Pop mail server that the first one was using!" I can shut down ZAP and the mail works fine, start-up ZAP and the E-mail client, says, "Are You sure this server is a POP3 mail Server"?

I have given the mail clients complete access on any protocol and any port. I know that something needs to be configured to allow the e-mail clients to get out, but I have found it yet. I have run into this problem once on Win98 too.

Oh, by the way, it's an older version of ZAP [ZAP-2.6.], not "ZAP-3". But I downloaded the Free Trial Version of ZAP-3 and try that, but I have the same problem.

Has anybody else run into this problem? And if so, what can I do to solve it?

are you running any kind of local pop proxy program, like MailMorf,
or a virus checker that does email virus checking through a pop proxy?

           Thanks for the reply! I think both machines were running Norton's AV. After that I saw Your Post, I realized that maybe I must have blocked the Norton AV Agent with the Fire-wall. Is that What You were thinking too?

Sometimes I'm like an "Old Mule", You have to hit me in the head with a "2x4" just to get my attention. Thanks for the help, and if there is something else
that I should be looking at, please by all means "en-lighten" me!

Yes, that's exactly what I meant!
Before I started using Proximitron, I had ZAP configured to allow
internet access for the NAV popproxy.exe, (which shows up in ZAP as
"Norton Antivirus Utilities" for NAV 2000)and deny internet access
to Microsoft Outlook. That was great because it totally prevented
Outlook from accessing the web when rendering HTML email, so it blocked
all mail "bugs" that people put in HTML email. But now that I
use proxomitron, I can't distinguish Outlook originated
requests from MSIE originated requests. (I wish Outlook would
use a different HTTP Agent value!)

Mayby one of your filters is overwriting it. I show it to be

"Outlook-Express/6.0 (MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; TmstmpExt)"

Ahh, I'm not using Outlook Express, I'm using the full-blown
Outlook from Office 2000. For some reason it uses the same
User-Agent as MSIE. (I had to go double-check just in case
I had done something stupid like overwriting it with a filter,
as you suggested )
